You clearly have not taken a multi second night exposure before. Flashy aircraft lights do that. I remember NBC's Unsolved Mysteries 40 years ago presenting that as some unknown phenomenon and never did tell the straight truth.

I have to take a very wild guess by reading between the lines. Is there an aperture control ring on the lens you are using? Remember to set it to the highest f-stop so the camera body can control that properly.

Night is lights off, 20 second exposure. Day is lights on and shielded for glare with black paper, 1/2.5 second exposure. 11mm extension tube used in addition to 105mm macro lens. All other settings same.

Try it without the tele-converter yet?

Are you currently using any adapted F-mount lenses? Could be the time to get a Z-mount equivalent lens. There is rarely regret over upgrading glass.

Can you try to post a jpeg from camera that is not edited? You likely would need to resize smaller but just so we could look at the exif data to see where you may be going wrong.

I really have been watching the rumors of this product for a while. However there is a "gotcha" with the initial version. So you would still have need for an actual Nikon FTZ adapter for any AF-S, AF-P, G, VR type lenses...
