Since I needed a flash on my Z5 tonight... Rear Curtain Sync on the I-menu with my SB-600.

I used that combination a couple of years. There is no secret or tweak to do. Use faster shutter speeds at longer telephoto lengths because shake that does not show at 50mm gets magnified 12x at 600mm. But that is true for any long lens on a camera.

I think this is where the FTZ becomes a worthwhile investment. It brings in a lot of F lenses into play to fill a gap like this. You just want to verify you are buying a lens with its own AF motor instead of the older kind that use the screw-drive on the mount. I won't advise on a 70-300mm...
