Different angle on the scupture with the full scene. No 1:1 crops here. Starting with the unaltered jpeg files and then the fully processed RAW files. With the sun behind clouds here, less differences are there to see.

Did you not answer your own question by stating you know how to set date and time on camera? It is not necessary to set correct time.

My D7000 had a way of erroring like that during long exposures at night, in the dark. The battery ran low with the mirror up. I would have to actually push the shutter release after changing the battery to correct the error. Ruined a couple of astrophotography nights until I worked that out.

Nikon was running discount pricing in March. I expect the Z105mm was included, and $200 sounds about right compared to past years.

I am taking a guess that the shutter is sticking closed on the black images. Using the viewfinder, you are looking through the lens off the mirror in front of the shutter, so if it sticks closed the sensor sees nothing. Set to LiveView, apparently it can open the shutter and hold it open, but...
