    Landscape Panoramas

Kind of gray, cloudy, and dark. But infrared thrives on that kind of sky. Only wish the clouds were even more ominously moody.

    Backpack or shoulder bag?

Screen protectors: I have put the stick-on clear kind to all 3 of my bodies. Use them for my phone and mp3 player also. I have multiple types of bags and sizes. There is no 1 perfect solution IMO.

    Landscape Panoramas

Infrared stitched panos. Do we prefer the cropped-down version or the full 180-degree version? Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. D600 IR conversion, 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5, A-mode f/10. Full width version is 8 images shot portrait mode. Edit: Used Hugin panorama stitcher with JPG files. When I learn how...

    What's up with Youtube?

Algorithms. Your 1 video must have been landing in the "recommended" subject for a demographic. But that kind of thing is only temporary if you don't upload new content daily or weekly. And the thumbnail image really will drive views too.

    Wedding shooters Nikon 24 - 120 F4?

Likely not for 1 event. But do not forget to consider the extra background isolation f/2.8 gives. That is noticeable and extra ISO won't help that. This coming from myself who shot (unofficially) my own nephew's wedding and reception entirely with a Z24-70mm f/4. Nice lens, did not get much...

    Wedding shooters Nikon 24 - 120 F4?

Just a reminder people, this is a thread from 2015 that was recently revived. Many original posters have not visited for a long time.

    Dominique’s old stones (mostly)

I believe I see at least 3 off-camera light sources based on the shadows and the bit of glare on he lower book. Nicely done. And please go on with stories to go with your photos. I know I try to tell a little about my experience as I photographed a scene. A great photo will tell it's own story...

Peak Design Oval Split rings with plastic sleeves

FWIW I just put the anchor links on the triangular split rings that came with my Z5, D750, and D600 and don't worry further. I use the cuff and slide strap. I also have bought the anchor link adapter system to use 2 normal fabric straps I have and like.

Peak Design Oval Split rings with plastic sleeves

Do you suppose that could be why PD won't offer them anymore?

Peak Design Oval Split rings with plastic sleeves

As @hark said earlier in the thread, these oval split rings are used by fisherman as a tangle-resistant attachment for lures. However these are without the plastic trim. An example here: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-SPLIT.html For what it's worth, when I got the free replacement...

    new lens or camera body

I hate to say it, but it may not be an "or" deal instead of being an "and" option. I see this as being a 2nd body and a 24-70mm f/2.8. And a good flash if you don't have one.

    TTL flash for macro?

I don't know. On my reduced-size displays of my phone and sub-notebook PC your TTL photos look fairly consistent in being a fraction of a stop darker. I would be just tempted to set the exposure comp 1/3 or 2/3 brighter and call it.

    No Linux tools by Nikon

Currently I am not running a Linux OS on any of my PC's, but I historically have used Ubuntu a lot. I am moving away from the Nikon NX software in recent months. I pretty much stick to open-source projects that originated in Linux repositories. I am using DigiKam once again for importing...

Breaking down the assassination attempt photos

I had seen the "bullet" photo on Sunday and I admit I instantly wanted to know what camera took that photo. I agree with Jared Polin in that the one photo of the fist pump under the flag is going to win a Pulitzer, but the bullet photo is going to live on for the ages in a semi-morbid way...

help with wifi on my coolpix s3700

I guess I should say "unsupported" instead of obsolete. Give downloading the utility a try and see if it runs on your version iOS. Then follow the directions I copied.

help with wifi on my coolpix s3700

From the S3700 Reference Manual page 101 (still available online at Nikon) Do you have Nikon Wireless Mobile Utility installed on your iPhone? It is obsolete for a number of years now.
