Just a few urban shots of downtown Calgary a few days ago.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, it turned out to be a not too bad a shot. :) I like it. :) Here's another one of the same building while it was being built:

This is Calgary's newest high rise tower, built by Encana Energy Company (big oil company). It's 58 stories high. It had a continuous concrete foundation pour of three shifts, 500 people, and required between 75 to 95 concrete trucks pouring continuously.

I thought I'd post this depth of field (DOF) chart for those of you still not clear on the concept, or how and when to apply it. I think this chart is pretty self explanatory. Maybe print it out and have it laminated...keep in your kit bag for future reference. :)

This is my version of the correction using Irfanview. Took about 15 seconds, tweaking the brightness, contrast, sharpening and gamma levels. Nothing fancy, just simple corrections:

The other day, because the weather has been so crappy here (cold and windy), I got bored. So I decided to make some photo equipment gear. I had this old mic stand and a roll around thingy (for lack of a better term for this thing :) ) and put together a rolling light/reflector/clamp/....whatever...

I must be ahead of my time,because I made my own tether strap last year. :) Works well, too, and not difficult to make at all. Just requires some ingenuity and how-to skills to put it together. I include a photo of my own version of the tether strap on my Black Rapid. :) : I know...crappy...

I took the liberty of giving your shot some pop, and just a little sharpening. See the difference?

This would be my take on this shot. Cropped to eliminate the overexposed left top corner...added a little saturation...sharpened just a touch.... What do you think? Better or worse? :)

I was doing a hot air balloon shoot yesterday, and this is what I came up with. From about 100 shots, I culled it down to about 45 keepers. These are just a few from that shoot.

Rocky Mountains, shot along the Trans Canada Hgwy, using D300 with 18-105 VR lens. This particular range is in Alberta.
