I thought I'd post a pic of the venerable D300 in case anyone forgot what it looks like. ;)

John, I get nothing at all! I just took 3 shots of what I'm seeing (refer to "Tripod Collar for the 70-200 f/4" post. I'll upload them in here so you can see what I'm seeing. These are in the correct order which I took the shots of my screen.

Taken just a few moments ago, this is what's outside my windows. You probably can't see the wind blowing, but believe me, it is! and it's damn cold! brrrr! :( -26C with the wind chill. D300 with 35mm 1.8 in Aperture mode.

For hockey, I'd get either the 55-300 or the 70-300 lens. I've used the 55-300 with good results. Here's an example:

Nice shot, and I, too, agree with Fish about cropping differently. However, this would be my take on this shot: There are so many different ways to crop this shot and make it look good. Experiment with the shot and see what YOU come up with. Just takes a little practice and a discerning eye...
