Ya know, dapper...you take nice pictures. However, they seem to need a little "pop" to make them come alive. And some sharpening, too. These are my interpretations of your #11 and #12. What do you think? I, personally, would hang these on my wall! :)

Well, I thought about the butterfly some more, and this is what I came up with. Added some saturation, contrast, adjusted the gamma ever so slightly, and sharpened it up just a tad. Cropped a little off the right side, too. Now, to me, the jewels seem to have a little more "pop" to them. Would...

OK...I don't know what to think about the jewelled butterfly, so I'll leave that one for someone else. :) As for the cupcakes....it was too "flat". not enough punch...if you know what I mean. The light just wasn't there to make it look appealing. This would be my version of that shot: A...

Well, to start with, it would be nice if you filled out the rest of your profile. It helps us help you in answering any questions you might have. As for your choice of lenses....nothing wrong with either of those lenses. Both excellent for what they do. As for the pictures you submitted......#1...

    Just a few from yesterday

During a break in aerial photography yesterday, I decided to grab my D300 and shoot what was available around me. This is what I came up with.

This is my job. It's what I do.

Jeez...this generated a lot of likes and questions! :) Thanks, guys. The company name is New Heights Aerial Photography. (New Heights Aerial :: Aerial Photography). It's owned by my buddy Andy Isaak. It's his chopper and it's very high tech. He flies the chopper, I take the pictures using an rc...

This is my job. It's what I do.

These are a couple of shots I took today of a "fuel farm" being built just outside of town. Taken using an octocopter with a D800 slung underneath, and a 17-35 2.8 lens from about 600 feet up.

    Hey! fotojack

I can't say enough good things about the D300. It's all I expected it would be, and more! This is what you call a REAL camera! :) Couple of shots I took with it yesterday before I had to go off and do my regular job of aerial photography:

Having trouble figuring out what to shoot...

I've been into photography for over 40 years, and I just learned how to do Light Painting the other night! Was kinda fun. :) Here's an example: Here's how I got this shot: D200 camera with 28-105 lens, on Manfrotto tripod. Shutter speed - 20 seconds, Manual Mode, Aperture - f8, ISO - 100...

    Identify 'Original' Battery Grip

Yes, Nikon grips can be registered. There is a serial number on the bottom of the grip. Here's a picture of my D200 grip. The one you want to get should look similar to this on the bottom:

A few shots from a shoot yesterday......

This is a motorcycle stunt team in Calgary. They do shows all over Canada and the western U.S. They invited me up to take a few shots while they were practicing.

    nz black robin

Yup, just like Don and Helene said....take a little time to do some basic PP (Post Processing). Give it some visual interest, brightening up, give it a bit of "punch". I wanted to see the eyes of this bird, so I color corrected it just a tad:

    Post YOUR rides

This is what I get around in. 2005 Ford Escape XLT. Fun to drive, holds all my camera gear, it's got all the bells & whistles except leather seats (don't like leather seats), and it's not too bad on gas. This is the day I bought it..... ...and this is what it looks like now....
