I don't get the chance to slow down and read/view threads very often, so at times I do that when I'm catching up. Great shots!! Really love the bar shot. Great lines, love the reflection in the glasses, love the feel. :)

Thanks man, that means a lot. Just goes to show what you can do with a kit lens. I feel like I've been really improving as time goes on. I've always kind of had the eye for it, and now I'm trying to expand on that and my skills with a camera.

In other news, I bought a pretty decent tripod yesterday, so I'm going to mess with some long exposure stuff tonight.

Some of my favorite shots of all time have been the night shots. Making a scene come alive with a long exposure is a thrill in and of itself.

Today I felt a little uninspired around home, so I grabbed the camera and went walkabout in the city again. It's kind of cool what secrets a city you've lived in for 20 years can hide from you.

Sadly, I didn't get a chance to do night stuff. That'll have to wait. Possibly tomorrow or Friday. I still need to pick the ideal location.

I really like that top shot. It's amazing how the ordinary can look so good when seen thru someone else's eyes :D

Thank you! I looked at the scene and I decided on a whim to get a shot of it, not actually thinking that I'd get anything out of it. I'm using the same split toning formula I came up with a few pages back, and I really like the effect on certain shots, especially when coupled with some desaturation.

Happy spring! The winds today were RIDICULOUS, so I was stuck in the house once again. I bought some stuff to do long exposure light painting, but that plan didn't come to fruition. Hopefully soon. Anyway, here's the photos, taken straight from my kitchen!

BONUS! Sometimes a great candid just appears out of nowhere. For example, when your fiancee falls asleep in just the right position on the couch.

What, no love for yesterday's photos? :p Got some good shots today. I've been feeling a bit burnt out with some of the city type shots. I don't live in a very big city, and there's only so much you can shoot downtown this time of year. I'll shift gears for a while and wait for things to change up. I took a trip to some old warehouses and grabbed a good one.

Also stopped by the atrium at my school's student union building. It's a cool area with all kinds of interesting architecture.

For some reason the front door of the cafe I ate lunch at looked photo worthy. Thoughts?

And I finally got to put my new tripod to good use!

I like them especially the spice rack. And.....I like the cafe door shot. It just works for me :D

Thanks! I like the cafe shot too. I dunno why. Just think it looks nice. I like how my long exposure shots turned out. I need to find an intersection with an overpass so I can get a higher angle.

Took my camera out to a dinner we went to. When we got there, we found out that there was a painting class going on, and I got a lot of shots. It turned out to be a fun night. I feel like I'm having a bit of a creative block. I don't feel like what I've been taking lately has been too great. What do you guys think?

Perhaps I'm being overly critical of myself?

I think you are being over critical :D I think that taking shots every day just stretches you boundaries and some times the boundaries don't want to stretch and you very much feel it. It's pretty easy to go out on a trip once a month and take fabulous shots because you feel all creative because you haven't done it in ages. BUT every day!! Making something out of what you see every day is not so easy, and it's not that easy to feel creative about it either.

OK....please repeat this to me if I say I have lost the plot :D

Thank you very much, it makes me feel better to know that these last shots are liked. I have the desire to really expand my photography, which is why I'm trying to shoot every day. I get what you're saying about boundaries not wanting to stretch... right now mine feel set in stone. I don't feel creative at all. It's pretty tough to get some real interest out of the mundane. I'm just going through a block right now, trying to come up with new ideas.

I'll remember to keep you in line! :D

Never get too picky on a daily shot. There were times when I took a shot of something random for my daily. I figure I got my shot in, no matter what the subject was. With very little time in my day, you might get a shot of my pinky toe.

Makes sense. I am always my toughest critic. I constantly am pushing myself to improve and get better, and sometimes I'm a little hard on myself.
