Jen is right, you do take nice portraits. Can you tell me what type of flash you are using and the type of diffusion if any. I have never been good at getting lighting right on portraits; thus I rarely take portraits. I have been dabbling more since I picked up the D700 and an SB-600, but they still look like crapola.
the first shot is nice, but the piano looks like its behind the person, rather then him being "at" the piano...if thats what you were going for, then it works...In the second shot...whatever that brown furry thing is (dog?) needs to go...its distracting as heck and blocks a good portion of the piano.
For this setting the dog was just too darn excited. I'm not home tonight, but I can post the other shots I took (maybe smaller pics to save bandwith) to show you the problem I've caused by not taking more shots.Good points Marcel. I think your portraits are great, regardless. The subject always shines. I guess i just wish that dog was at least sitting up facing the camera instead of what looks like jumping down.
Nice portraits, Marcel! I agree with Joe about the dog. Try taking a "squeaky toy" with you when there are dogs. You might be able to get their attention just long enough for a good shot (if you even want them in the photo)
Nice work.
Your scenic and macro shots are superb. I especially like the pussy willow. Great job on all of them.
