great shots! I love the lamb!
Thanks Jen, It posed for me and kept looking straight into the lens for many many shots.
Here's the original unretouched pic well, sort of since I just realized I posted the next or previous shot. But the light was exactly that.

Interesting, what is causing the red reflection?
It was a heather kind of red light to keep the small ones warm. The light was irradiating from one spot in the shhepfold.
But it was dark and backlight all the way. The D7000 did nice at 1600 iso.

Really nice shots, Marcel, especially the lamb and the icicles! Did someone already tell you that the "official" term for a horse's foot is hoof, although we still call them feet . . . like "the farrier is trimming my horse's feet."

This is actually yesterday's shot that I didn't have time to process. Landscape HDR with the D700. Processed in Photomatix. Iso 200, 1/650 f 9 from 3 exposures. I tried it with photoshop hdr merge and I did not like the end result.

Here is today's pic. This person was extremely camera shy. I had to insist so he would even let me take the camera out. I was finally able to catch his sight.
You have to remember that this is a long going project for me. It's not the individual pics that will impact as the difference between them when I'll insert them into a book or some kind of scrapbook.

I like the HDR, beautiful sky!
The man in the portrait does have sort of an awkward smile... but its a nice photo. I like the light and the vignetting. :)

Thanks Jen, the man's smile really reflects his personality. I usually deal with his wife as he is not the person using the instrument. But since she was not there and I insisted on having someone in the shot, he reluctantly agreed.
Now I have to thank Helene for the vignette idea. I don't use it very often and in this case, it made a good difference. If I end up using this shot, I'll remove the light switch and the thermostat, I find them very distracting.

Beautiful work, Marcel. I love the color of the sky and the texture of the tree. Very nice PP . . . no glow or ghosting.
I find I have to alternate between the two programs. It seems that the photoshop HDR has more "fine-tuning" controls.

It turned out to be a very nice shot. Good job, Marcel! . . . and yes, on the thermostat and light switch! LOL

Here's todays pic of the day as far as I'm concerned.
Tried HDR but did not like the result. There was no detail to be gained in the windows even with 3 stops under. So this is it for now.

Nice shot, Marcel! What a great room. Is this someone's house or some kind of rehearsal hall?

I love the French doors and the little bit of light on the floor. Did you try this shot a little closer, like including only the doors without the top windows, and a little closer to the piano? What catches my eye are the doors around the piano. The top windows to me are a little distracting. I'm guessing you wanted to get the "greatness" of the room, in which case, very successful!

Someone's practice room. This is the same house where I did my first hrd with the piano in the red room...

Ha-ha! No wonder I liked this so much.

Someone's practice room, hmmm. . . . a great piano deserves a great room!

I took the tripod out for a walk along with the D700 last night hoping to do a bridge shot for this week's challenge. The bridge didn't turn out as I had wished, but I came back with these.
I used the 70-300 except the one with the trees, ISO 2000, manual exposure. The Times hotel photo is a stacked (HDR) of 3 exposures.

Very nice shots Marcel, I actually like the non-HDR ones better, their sharpness is outstanding. Looks like you had some intense light behind you illuminating the trees, which highlighted them nicely. Also like the flat transition of the foreground into the water.
I'm wondering how the 3rd pic would look if you cropped out the darker portion (about the first inch on the bottom), where it transitions from dark to light in the foreground.

That piano room is very impressive, I love it! I like your 2nd city photo best out of those 3 too. :)

I love all three of them, Marcel! Beautiful shots and excellent PP - - - that TIMES sign is very clear and sharp!

What was the bright light from the side on the third pic?
