Day 154
Miss "Katy"

Miss "Katy" UP 1988 came to town today for Rochelle Railroad Days a three day event. She is an EMD SD70ACe locomotive owned by Union Pacific Railroad. She is one of six locomotives panted in "Heritage Colors," Each one of the six is painted in schemes reminiscent of railroads acquired by UP since the 1980s. The engine numbers match the year that the predecessor railroad was absorbed into Union Pacific. UP 1988 is painted in Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad or "Katy" colors. The locomotive was unveiled in early August 2005, after which it entered regular revenue service on August 4, pulling a train from Chicago, to East St. Louis.

SD70ACe models are rated at 4,300 horsepower. Powered by a 16 Cylinder General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) diesel motor, which will produce a top speed of 70MPH.

Weighing in at 408,000 lbs (204 tons) and has a length of 74feet. Its fuel tank holds 4900 gallons. You want to fill it up? 4900g @ $4.00 a gallon = $19600.00

Fuel consumption ratings are based on Gallons per hour. At full throttle pulling a load, usage could exceed 200 gallons an hour.

And you though NAS was bad.

Love the Miss "Katy" train shot! Beautiful detail, color and composition.

Very nice cloud shot, too. Looks like stormy weather's coming.

Day 156
Roberts Armory World War II Museum
M22 "Locust" Light Airborne Tank (Yes, it runs)

Today was the last day of Rochelle Railroad Days. This weekend was one of the few days a year when the Museum is open. Chris wanted to take a trip out to get some shots for her 365. Been putting off going here because it is very tight to shot anything, but I think we both managed to pull it off.

In late September we will be going to another Reenactment, but this time this tank and others will be in "operation" at the time, look for more photos then.

Well folks, that just about wraps up my vacation this year, back to work tonight.

All this talk about "K-Well" got me thinking about JPEG & RAW. So this photo is actually a big step for me. Put my 18-108 back on for a while and shot in full manual and RAW. Frustrated right now with my 300mm 5.6, it's a light eater and have to come up with / learn setting to compensate for when I'm zoomed in all the way.

I'm good about changing my aperture, but keep forgetting to adjust my shutter speed when I change aperture.

90^ Ice cream, & whip cream don't get along. Did this one in 3 shots, and could have spent a little more time PP. Looks a little blue and a little dark looking at it again this morning.
