First time out with the D90 a night. So much different then the D3000 got a lot to learn with this camera yet. Did pull this off in 2 shots. Shot at 5:30 am about 32^ with a 10 MPH wind in my face making it feel like 25^. OK, it was cold and windy and I didn't feel like playing around any more, wimped out and went home. Bah Humbug.

Day 50
05 Weekly Challenge Nov 10-17 Macro (revisited)

"Work in progress"

H0 is the most popular scale of model railroads in the world. In H0 scale, 3.5 mm (0.14 in) represents 1 real foot (304.8 mm); this ratio works out to about 1:87.086. This is one of many custom works I have done. This one is about 85% complete and need more detailing and weathering to be finished, but close enough to photograph. It is the only one I own that is metal die cast. Came out of the box as a sliver hunk of metal, with lot of little pieces that needed to be painted and put together. It's one thing to paint them, but another thing to paint them so they run. Brass wheels that pick up electrical current from the track and metal moving pieces don't like paint. This engine has many hours of operating use as it stands. It was also featured many times on a "Club Layout" open house that I once belonged to as a yard switcher. These days it sits in a box waiting for new track to be laid somewhere.

(Railfan note: This is a non prototype engine for this railroad, and tender does not match engine prototype. This was two kits with missing pieces that I was able to save from someone who was going to throw them away and made them into one)

Day 51
07 Weekly Challenge Dec 8-15 Degeneration (revisited)

I had to skip week 6 Multiplicity for now. Today is a workday for me and not enough time to set one up. Should be able to get to it Thursday or Friday. Monday my stepson has a homework project that deals with cooking. Part of the assignment is we have to take six photos of him (what a shame) preparing, cooking, and eating the meal he makes and print them out. Monday 365-photo theme is The Decisive Moment. If I cannot get one I may jump ahead to Freestyle for Monday and come back Tuesday with The Decisive Moment.

Snow White
Missed commenting on some of your shots, Rick!

The "night photography" one is pretty good for a first with a new camera!

I love the model train . . . great idea to include the penny for comparison!

Nice shot on the underpass . . . almost looks too nice for "degeneration"!

Good for you for keeping up despite your work schedule and a new camera!

Mom and Tyler peeling Garlic. For a school project Tyler has to prepare a meal and take pictures of it.

He is cooking "London Broil" (with mom's help)

Day 54
10 Weekly Challenge Jan 20-Feb 2 Freestyle (revisited)

Posing Nemo

Another Macro shot. Picked a couple of these Betta's (Siamese fighting fish) today one red one and one blue one, they are about an inch long. Put them into a divided tank. Everything is still new so a lot of bubbles sticking to everything. Got a better shot of the blue one, the other one was a little shy and wouldn't give me his best side. Maybe I should have slipped him a fin so he would pose for me. Something I want to revisit and play around with lighting. In a hurry today no time to play, got to sleep.

Day 55

Dad's and Grandpa's Beer Steins from Western Germany. Both over 50 years old. Just not into it today, too many waking hours not enough sleeping hours, stuck in a funk. NEED to get out, 3-5 inches of snow tonight, oh happy day.
