That's a nice find nikonpup, an SD-40-2 built exactly 40 years ago in 1979. These were once common stalwarts of North American railroading, but their numbers are thinning.
Caught two shots yesterday of eastern railroad heavyweights CSX and NS. CSX appeared at Laurens, SC and NS at Spartanburg, SC. No matter where I stood in Laurens, I was surrounded by signposts and poles.

Why? When i go to take a picture, the R.R. swat team rolls out. Taggers can spent all day painting.

That SD40-2 shines like a new penny. Those may stay around due to some industrial tracks & branch lines not being able to take the weight of the larger locomotives.
