My Favourite D800 Images

The RAW power of a D800 to capture the perfect moment. This image is of my daughter and two of her friends on a beach, minutes before sunset. 72 DPI simply doesn't do the image justice, and yet it is simply amazing to look at even at that DPI.

This image was taken with my:

D800
Nikon Nikkor 16-35mm set at 35mm
and built in flash for fill

I am really impressed with the 16-35, it really delivered on this image and a whole lot more. I managed a nice series from this.

These need work, but for the most part they are handheld, what is termed SOOC, from my Nikon D800 plus Nikkor 85mm 1.4 AIS, with indoor lights, the newfangled twisty kind, so the white balance is probably mangled! i used LR4 to tag it, but next steep I'll try to change the look overall, as i think it needs help! thank you, and happy photography! -Americo aka aRolleibrujo aka aNikkorbrujo aka loads of other aka's!

The frog does look like he has a hang over, come to think of it. Or pissed! LOL

I interrupted him feeding on Grasshoppers! The area has lots of bugs. Although the photo doesn't really show it, this was a large, healthy, well feed toad!

I got a real kick out of him.

You have to Love the Scotts, no one parties like they do and they can entertain themselves very well with only a rope, a pole and a steel ball.

They also play a mean bag pipe! :)

Got an opportunity today to fiddle with my Daughter's Michael Kors watch again. I tried some images with the watch before I had my D800 (if memory serves me correctly). I thought I would revisit Michael Kors this evening.

My goal was to see the quality of the lowest ISO I could push on the D800. I am pretty happy with the results.

A couple of images from the past week.

The Cormorant was captured using my Nikon Nikkor 400mm f3.5. The images were take a few hours before sunset. These are my first good images of a Cormorant, for some reason, I have not had much luck with focus and exposure on this strange bird.

Rainy day, couldn't go out, but I saw this snail and used my Nikon Nikkor 105mm f2.8G VR to do some fun macro. Employed the use of a LUMAHAWK 98 LED light as well.

Seeing it was a rainy day, I thought the snail would be easy to photograph. It wasn't. They don't move as slowly as you think when you want to get a nice macro shot of them! It started to become quite a challenge. The eyes on the end of the tentacle are tough to get in focus and still get other parts in focus.

​Anyway, it was a fun experiment.

I'm not trying to be contentious but the small images posted in this thread don't really show off the D800 to me. I'm not criticising the composition or artistic merit it's just that they could have been taken with an iPhone as far as detail goes.

I have a D800 myself so I can imagine that the originals are fantastic but I struggle to see it at this size.
