    LIGHTROOM PRICE INCREASE

I would expect those prices to increase even more on a regular basis until consumers cancel subscriptions in large numbers. Then it will flatten at that price. Question is, will it be $800/year?

    Advice on suitable lens

For that range of zoom lens, I would say try to get the 24-120mm f/4G. It was a kit lens for bodies like the D750, and I have nothing to gripe about the lens other than it's fairly large in diameter. It's bulky in a bag. Since it was a lens included with new DSLR's, it is often traded in and...

    Goodbye Radio Shack

My main audio-visual system is actually using all Radio Shack speakers I bought during 1987-89 to this day. I have had to repair the foam of the speaker cones in the 2 big L-R speakers, but the bookshelf speakers I use for center and surround are still original. Not the best sold at the time in...

    Help with WiFi- S9500

As I look at page 94 of the user manual, I see that the camera only waits 3 minutes for you to get your phone connected before it shuts off the wifi. If you are a bit slow trying to navigate the phone... no wifi signal from the camera would be visible...

    Goodbye Radio Shack

I actually worked at a Radio Shack during 1987. It was during my last semester at the local vocational-tech college earning my electronics degree. I actually stunned a few customers as the unicorn sales person who actually understood electronics and most of the things sold in the store. Of...

Amazed at how little I find on the Z8's video abilities

Jordan Drake at PetaPixel has been singing the Z8 video praises since it was first reviewed. But I am a terrible videographer so my interest in the Z8 is almost exclusively for still photography. Wish I could talk my employer into a cost-of-living raise so I could afford one. Making exactly...

I find the real killer feature of Peak Design straps to be the "Anchor Links" for attaching to the camera. I do have the Slide, and the extra padding does make carrying a heavy lens combo better. But I found that I have other straps I also like using, and you can just buy the Anchor Links (the...

    EXIF VIEWER

Firefox here also. But I do offer a pro tip. Photos hosted on a free image sharing site like Imgur or the like will strip the EXIF data from the photo. Uploading directly to Nikonites server will show the EXIF with the browser extensions. Unfortunately you cannot control how somebody else will...

Trevor of AstroBackyard showing some wide-field astrophotography post-processing

I have tried working at this. What I can report is that the same tools Trevor is accessing over multiple commercial apps are basically all available inside Siril for free. Some things don't work as automatically, but it's there. Specifically the background gradient tool works differently, some...

Trevor of AstroBackyard showing some wide-field astrophotography post-processing

I will be having a go at some Orion images I shot in 2021 at 90mm. I did a stack of them back then and stretched as much as I thought I could. But I did not have the star-removal tools at the time for separating the nebula background from the stars. Trevor here is working at some old images...

    Unknown object

For the record as future readers visit, I have to correct myself in that the bright "star" is Jupiter, not Venus. Pleiades and Orion are very identifiable and I cross-referenced to Stellarium for the Jan 8 night sky.

    Unknown object

Basically a lens flare is a bright light trying to make a rainbow inside of your lens. Aiming in the direction of the moon is what was doing that to you. How badly a lens may flare is dependent mostly on the quality of your lens and F-stop used.

    Unknown object

Are you asking about the lens-flare artifact or Venus Jupiter which looks like what your subject is? Lens flare from a bright moon is the same as will happen composing with the sun in the photo.

    Heated Gloves

I wear lighter weight fabric gloves with grippy pads on the palms and fingers usually. Then I keep a pair of rechargeable electric hand warmers in my coat pockets and shove my hands there between shots. Really it is the fingers that need the direct heat. Do the heated gloves put coils running...

Not my best photo of the year, but I qualify it as a favorite photo. May 10th Aurora event. Bucket-list thing for me.

    intervalometer for milky way

I had to look it up, there is no external wired remote port for a D3400. The hot-shoe does not control shutter release. So you either find a wireless infrared shutter release remote with an intervalometer and live with a max 30 second exposure time per frame, or use a laptop pc by USB cable and...

    2025 Imaged BF Hammer style

Started right away on New Years Day. Not greatness, but we can build to that as the year progresses. It was very cloudy, the Wisconsin River is not frozen over, very few eagles about. What I captured was all happening pretty far away and I had to crop in a lot. I believe these 2 eagles were...

How do I post a signature that I see many members have?

On the statusbar at the top is your avatar. Next to the message and notification icons. Click the avatar, a drop down shows. On the right side column is "signature", click on that and create yours.

Any thoughts for landscape lens on a Z6iii?

Z14-24mm f/2.8 is among the best ultra wide lenses made by anybody. It is on my list to buy for filling out my Z lens kit. But it comes at a hefty price. Wait for one of the regular sales to buy one. I am using an F-mount Zeiss 15mm f/2.8 Distagon currently for my ultra wide. I sold off a 20mm...
