    D810 Focus Issue

I disagree about it being impossible to manually focus to a sharp image in the viewfinder with the diopter off adjustment. My understanding is the diopter is a focus adjustment for the viewfinder image, broken to the simplest concept. Each time I had blur from manual focus, it was from...

    Nikon Z6III weird flicker issue

I do not have one of these cameras yet, so I cannot answer that with confidence. But I have watched the phenomenon explained in videos. It interests me knowing someday I would be looking to buy a body with stacked sensor.

    D810 Focus Issue

For all future readers, just let the autofocus do it's thing, then without touching the focus ring on the lens, move the diopter adjustment wheel until your image is focused in the viewfinder. @Hue certainly your D810 diopter wheel is out of spec. What's a person gonna do?

    Nikon Z6III weird flicker issue

It should be from the stacked sensor. What is happening is the light is changing as the image is read off of the sensor. Stacked sensors read multiple zones at the same time instead of scanning the entire sensor top to bottom in one large inclusive scan. So the banding is the change of light...

    D810 Focus Issue

Camera can find focus fine, so it must be either your eye(s) or the diopter. Diopter is for fixing human eyesight problems. FYI: 20/20 is not perfect eyesight. It's a reference for normal eyes. When you get fitted for glasses at an optometrist they typically try to get your vision corrected to...

    Z6III and 3rd party batteries

Best test them in camera now and see if you get the message about 3rd party batteries on the display. The camera is very new so the battery manufacturer may not have been able to re-code the chip for the Z6III yet. Nikon does lock out the camera from use if it detects the wrong battery chip. I...

    Help With FTZII

I think he is describing the F mount body cap won't twist off. It has to be turned clockwise, which might be what is confusing him.

    Software for an older OS?

An obsolete PC will have to use obsolete software. Picasa 3 has not been developed for the last 10 years and can still be downloaded. I used to use it until Google dropped it's support. https://picasa.en.softonic.com/ Ps: I am still running the same PC I bought 14 years ago, but I have it...

    Post your macro photos here

A couple of recent additions to my other hobby, collecting watches. Z5, Z MC 105mm f/2.8, plus 2 Z-mount extension rings. And a time-lapse of another watch without the extension rings.

    Post your Tree Photos !

I am trying to select my 2025 calendar photos and this one is on the "maybe" list for me. Taken at a power plant's discharge pond that is perennially foggy.

Regarding copying files from computer to my Nikon Z8

@DrJ are you taking the time to store the manual lenses focal lengths under the Non-CPU lens data? I can save up to 20 on my Z5. Once done and you select the lens when installed, the focus peaking works perfectly. If the speed of the lens is also saved you will be able to control aperture from...

    Looking for lens advice

Of these I only have the 24-70mm f/4. Generally speaking, image quality is a compromise as you increase the zoom range on a lens. I remember watching a video by Thomas Heaton when he switched back to Nikon with a Z7II. He sampled the Z24-70 f/4, Z24-120 f/4 and Z24-200. No surprise, he preferred...

    First try - Planet

The biggest hurdle here is pixel density of the sensor. You have a big boost using a Z8 here. When I last photographed Jupiter I did it with a 16MP D7000 which actually has a denser pixels than my current 24MP full frame cameras. You don't need perfect tracking, but a tracker that can keep the...

    Dark shots

Frankly, I do not see great choices being made in the exposure settings for the dark exposures. The portrait would be best done with a flash to fill in the shadows and face. You are using center-metering instead of Matrix-metering. There are times and circumstances for each. The center of your...

    First attempt of lightning photography

It's not an easy thing to do. I've attempted lighting a couple times over the years. I think it takes a lot of time and chasing storms to get the spectacular shots.
