We've got a few of those in the neighborhood too. :) Here's a little different perspective on the same group, just a slight shift in focus. I over-exposed a bit on purpose, after a few test shots, to get the detail in the cones I wanted.

I'll diverge, for a moment, to share two pics that I loved from today's dabbling in using my 70-300 VR for some (from 6 feet away) macro shots. Both were "4 O'clock" blooms, and have undergone the "infrared" treatment to get some cool B&W effects. Kinda wish I had taken one of these in time...

Had some fun messing with an old sign for a parking garage to start... Went with a filtered black and white with a vignette to get away from the BRIGHT blue and white "Chase" bank sign that glared out between the U and L. Then went to a local graffiti hotspot and found this talent. The...

I'll spend the next few days posting a few eye catching tidbits of interest that I stumbled across while randomly wandering around our downtown area... Fell in LOVE with the color scheme and composition of this little pretty. The pic, when I got home to upload, did not disappoint!

In fact, here's the little lady Lucy after a re-crop and auto-white balance fix from LightRoom. Fixes up the yellow a bit, yes?

...and although this pic didn't come out quite as sharp as the others, this is the winning stud in full strut/fluff. He was durn full of himself today, and it paid off!

As mentioned before (with the crane shots earlier in this thread), I love to go down to a local park on lunch and watch/listen to the Great-tailed Grackle. It just so happens that THIS time, they were a bit more photogenic. ;) That combined with my new 70-300 VR nabbed me a few pics. 1st, all...
