    Pretzel's learning curve...

Route 66 Blowout today... SO many people, it was hard to get shots of cars, but I always find one car, every year, that I snap some photos of. This year was a 1957 AMC Rambler Rebel. 1st... I could see this becoming an avatar or a sig pic some day, LOL ...then the gorgeous face of a...

    Pretzel's learning curve...

Today was simply phenomenal. 7 hours on and off the bike, enjoying the spring warmth and colors of Oklahoma in high definition. Wildflowers everywhere... red, pale yellow, dark yellow, pink, purple, white. All simply amazing. We didn't ride for those, though, so I didn't stop to snap any...

    Pretzel's learning curve...

You know, there's so much fun in editing... and in that, even more so than the photography side of things, I'm a ROOKIE! But, there's lots of freebies that let you mess with effects, etc, so I've been dabbling tonight.

    Pretzel's learning curve...

Good Lord, but what a week. Then, to de-stress, I spent the first 2 days of a 3 day weekend workin' my tail off! Mowed our yard, mowed mom's yard, sought out flowers and planters to complete the new front container garden, pulled the sink and toilet in the bathroom to lay new vinyl tile, found...

Some tall yellow beauties from the neighbors yard... yes, the 1st 2 are off center. Artistic interpretation? They're probably not the best composition, but I liked how they sorted out, and that's what's important, right? I might still crop out the bottom yellow fringe on the 1st photo...

Messed around with trying to get the moon again tonight. Still limited by my kit lens, so can't really zoom in like I wish I could, and the auto-focus just doesn't work well, so tried the manual approach to focusing to infinity. I still made a couple of mistakes, but this was a better...

How about a rose called the "Bees Knees"? I caught another "intruder", but the little lady was out of focus as I was more interested in the bloom. ;)

Ok... took a LOT of pics at the local rose garden today. Only going to post a couple as it's 2:36 a.m. here. May or may not have spent the evening setting up the new "AMAZING" photo editing computer I'm typing on right now, LOL 1st, the most beautiful rose of the entire day... my wife...

    Pretzel's learning curve...

Finally got around to taking the class homework pics, just messing with depth of field. I won't post pics from every FStop, but will post the largest and smaller aperture pics for perusal. :) I used an old privacy fence for reference and learned how aperture size can effect depth of field...

A few train themed pics from a rookie. Have a plan on hitting the tracks again soon.

Then, just to share a bit of insight into the "artist", and I use that term lightly, here was an attempt to meter to the middle on my trusty steed. Although the bike came out right, the shadow overshadowed (pun intended) this pic, it seems, so my instructor got to talk about different ways to...

    Pretzel's learning curve...

Here's a couple of pics from my first assignment, "Metering to the Middle". We had to set shutter speed to 1/125, ISO to 100, white balance to direct sun, then meter to the middle in manual mode. Since all the other settings were dictated, I metered by adjusting aperture only. Nothing fancy...

Here's the original to the painted sign. I like the B&W a little better, but the wife liked the color left in it, so posting it for viewing too. :)

    Pretzel's learning curve...

It's been a while, sorry. Been busy digging up a flower bed in the front so we can replace weed central with controlled beauty. Dozens of wagons full of dirt gone, bushels of weeds gone, ground leveled and hand tamped, a few pavers put in for spacing... and my back hurts! Here's an iPhone pic...

    Pretzel's learning curve...

Backdoor Hippie style... It may not be 365, but I'll do my best. I'm a rookie just learning his new cam, so some things may be mundane, but what the heck? 1st, some yard adventures... A tiny yellow lady no bigger than my fingernail, so an attempt at a macro with some bokeh. D3100 with just...

    Rookie - first random outing

How about a return to the same abandoned yard, different subject? Seems like still some bright spots to it... But better?

    Rookie - first random outing

Be gentle. I *am* a rookie after all. The doll I found in the yard of a long abandoned house, and has some minor editing. The buildings/line shot was a lucky grab roaming downtown. Both shot with my new D3100 and the kit lens. Any critique, tips welcome!
