    Post Your Landscape Photos

I also shot these in portrait orientation trying to get the tree tops and sky in the shot too. I am just not yet sure how to present landscapes in my photography. Lots of work left to do here!

second prime purchased nikon 50mm 1.8d

I have said this in both of the other two 50mm f/1.8 threads . . . . I love mine and it is a keeper! Plan to get the "G" version one day but am in no hurry. This shot is from my self portraits done in January. I enlarged this shot to 100% view and did a crop of a small area of my eye.

    Post Your Landscape Photos

I am not much of a landscape photographer but I want to work on it. I need to find some places around here that offer a beautiful landscape view. Just for practice I shot this scene, that I found pretty while I was there, but I am not sure my photograph depicts what I saw while sitting there...

    March competition

That is even easier. As soon as you click the "Reply" button and get your new window, look at the lower left corner and you will see "My Photos" button. This works even if you use the "Edit" feature.

Images always stuck on ISO 3200

@funfortehfun I am not sure why you would be using such a high shutter speed indoors? You might need to do some tutorial reading and get a better understanding of shutter speed and aperture versus ISO settings. Usually, most people can photograph anything that is static, without flash...

    Post your flower pics

Ahhhh what a gorgeous day we had today! Sun was perfect and not harsh. Nice temps and just a stunning fresh feel to the air. Got out and snapped a few of some of the new blooms around the yard.

    Another 50mm f/1.8D AF thread.

What you can do is get the focus close by turning the lens barrel. Once you are very close, test your focus by moving the whole camera forward towards the subject and then back from subject and take notice of the difference. Find the sharpest point and click. I actually used this method on this...

Confused about using fill light or leaving shadows

You are the one who has to decide this! There are as many opinions on what is correct as there are people with cameras. I personally like the shadow. It makes for a dramatic look. I don't mind a portrait with little shadow but it is not the way I would shoot one unless that is what the client...

    Let's see some reptiles...

Southern Ringneck that I spotted sunning itself on the root of a rotted out tree. I did not know this until I researched it but this snake is actually a venomous snake. It is a rear fang snake like the Coral snake and they are too small to really penetrate human skin. Its venom is also not...

How to make your photos display at their best for computer viewing

I have just been a little confused about how to make photo images display their absolute best when viewing on a computer/monitor. Monitors only display a maximum ppi (pixels per inch) of resolution. So how do you make the best of that? I hate waiting on a 15 megabyte image to download so I...

Freebie! 180* Split Prism Focus Screen To anyone who really wants to try one

I have a brand new (Chinese made) 180 degree split prism focus screen that fits Nikon D80, D90, D200, D300 and possibly more. I bought it, installed it, tried it, didn't like it, removed it, wrapped it up and put it back in its little plastic case. This cost me about $25.00 shipped so it is a...

    Yet another Robin

That's a dang nice shot! What exact Robin is this particular specimen? Looks a bit different than our Red Breasted versions over here.

Post your Bees in Flight photos!

Getting good focus, and keeping it, is such a pain in the butt. They seem to be attracted too, or antagonized by, the camera lens. I have a hard time with them flying towards the camera and that makes it even harder to keep focus.

Post your Bees in Flight photos!

First off, if you have never tried this get ready for absolute frustration! Not seeing many birds today I decided to kill some time shooting some photos of bumblebees/wood boring bees in flight. While I plan to get this perfect these are not too bad. Some are soft as I think I need even more...
