    Post your macro photos here

HAD to shoot one more at full 300mm zoom and this lovely Raynox... BARELY cropped. Now I'm going to bed! BTW, at f40, you see all the dust, so there were a few spots removed. Time to clean the ding-dang sensor again. ;)

Raynox DCR250 on my 70-300, stats in the EXIF, SB700 at full power (1/1). Cropped this one down to about 80%. 100% crop wouldn't get the whole critter in the frame.

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Ok, couldn't help but get another shot. Here's the DCR250 on my 70-300 at it's max aperture and around 200mm (where the lens is supposed to be at it's sharpest). Even f40 isn't enough DOF to get this entire tiny critter in focus. 1st edit is uncropped. 2nd is not quite 100% crop. HUGELY...

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

2nd... I got my Raynox DCR250 in today!!! Harder to use than one would think, but with patience (and a little honey) I got these ants to stand still for a moment. Definitely need flash to keep frame rate high enough, as this was shot at f16 (max for my 50mm 1.8G). There's a lot of moving...

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

1st tonight, we dabbled a bit in product photography in class... I came away with a couple I liked. One with a couple of different edits, the 2nd a full product shot. This was with 3 strobes. One to each side with a shoot through umbrella, and one overhead with a honeycomb. This was the...

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Moab Man - Here's the untouched photo before any dabbling. Not a whole lot of noise anyway. Noticeable, but my Primal Beast shoots it up nicely. ;)

    Improved Buffer/FPS in live mode?

Purely unscientific testing, so take it for what it's worth... Last night at class, the set-up for our in-class project required us all to be in continuous high mode. With that in mind, while the first student was lining up on the tripod, I went ahead and switched over and tested a few shots...

    Hello From Everywhere / Nowhere

We just gotta figure out who Pinkie is now... LOL @Phanntom, you're not making my mid 40's any easier with this "work away your life for a few days play" approach! I gotta buy more Powerball tickets now!!! Sounds like the travel and photography is an amazing way to spend the days and I'm...

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

A little of the fun from class tonight... part of our "assignment" is to "ALWAYS be shooting", and we're supposed to present the best non-project shot each night. As you can see, most people focused on getting different shots of the project instead. Figured I'd get my shot at the project, so...

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Here's a few more "Spring" shots. 1st, a couple of different edits of my new African Daisies. Then a different sort of shot on a Dandelion's seed head. You always see the full head of seeds, but rarely a partial... I thought this was kinda cool.

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Well... after a bit of mowing, my softer side won, and I left about 25 square feet of these lovely white wildflowers untouched. Then I noticed all the bees! (in all but 1 of the shots) Grabbed the camera while the light was still good, and here are the results. Hope you enjoy them! ALL...

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Nothing fancy tonight. Was eating out on the patio at Panera, dark grey clouds all around, when enough sunlight peeked through to light up one line of clouds. One moment of opportunity as I ducked around the corner... 4 shots with the 50mm 1.8G, stitched together, corrected perspective and...

Can we talk about bags for a while

Ahh... bag shopping rookie! I started with, and still have (and use daily, and love) my LowePro AW202 Sling Bag. Granted, I only have 3 lenses, flash, diffuser, spare battery, blower, lens pens, AA charger, remote cable, wireless remote, RF triggers, microfiber cloths, and 3 spare SD cards in...

    HELP!!! (...and don't judge... PLEASE?)

I don't often post crap like this online, but I've come to trust this community and need some advice. I've been tied up a lot lately, what with a new position and training at work (I'm sure you've all heard, already) and extra-curricular activities with my boy (see the fencing pics yet?), and...

    Post Your Favorite March Shot

Work/Life/OtherStuff has kept me from shooting much lately, although that's changing. I did manage a "March" shot last night, though, that I'm pretty proud of.

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Well, ok, I just couldn't leave that first pic alone, so I messed, and tweaked, and tested, and messed some more, then stripped and started over, and added a border, then a different border, and... well, I came up with a much better edit, IMO. More color, more detail, more... RAHR!

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Following along with the storm theme... (conveniently) On the way home, my son and I noticed a large storm system building way off in the distance, with some pretty spectacular cloud to cloud lightning. As I've never had the opportunity to shoot a good electrical display when it wasn't...

    ND filter kit

So... I'm wanting to get a filter kit, or filter and step down rings this year before I go down to Florida to see Dad. Of COURSE, I've looked at the Lee Filter kits, but buying those would mean no trip down south, as they are NOT inexpensive! Anyone have suggestions for some decent filter...

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Nothing fancy, just a couple of shots from a local fencing club getting some practice in. Soon, my boy will be a part of the action, and I'll get a little more serious. ;) These two were some of the better swordsmen... and let me tell ya, it's hard to catch the action when flashes aren't...
