    Where truckers come from

Hey @Blacktop, is this how you came into the world?

    Post your macro photos here

Also in my regular photo thread, but sharing here too, as some don't visit me in that "other" thread... ;) Macro with the Raynox DCR 250 on the end of my 70-300mm VR. 1st, just for perspective, the bloom in the macro shot actually sitting on an American dime. Uncropped, except to get to a...

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Here we go! All pictures are UNCROPPED (except to frame 4x5 instead of the native 4x6) and taken with the Raynox DCR-250 on my 70-300mm VR. Some "artistic" license was taken with the edits. ;) 1st, I dabbled with a "common" dandelion that I brought inside. Then I moved in the other bloom...

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Rain. ALL. DAY. LONG. (and looking like that for the weekend too...) Took a rare lull to run outside and grab a dandelion bloom and this wee little tiny thing so I could work with the Raynox a bit inside. Fun pics to come later, but just for a teaser, here's an uncropped, unedited shot of...

    Prints

Dunno about you, but Sam's and/or Walmart BUTCHER prints around here, and Walgreen's isn't much better for shots over 4x6. Costco has decent print services, or an online merchant like Nations or MPIX would be my recommendation. I personally use Nations and love what I get, especially for the...

Then we push you to a Raynox 250, but that is for another day LOL

Here's my most recent activity with the Raynox 250 on the 70-300mm VR. ;) This little lass is about 1/3 the size of my pinky nail. DEFINITELY hard to spot, much less get in focus, but I finally hit the shot I wanted! That pattern under her feet is from the styrofoam cup she was standing on. ;)

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Can I just say... I LOVE THIS RAYNOX DCR-250! Spotted this little spider several times over, here and there, when I didn't have time to stop and grab the camera, so when I saw him on the ceiling tonight I just about fell over myself rushing for the 70-300 and the Raynox! After a few failed...

Then we push you to a Raynox 250, but that is for another day LOL

Just for the record, here in a macro-rookie's hands, this is the Raynox 250 on my 70-300 VR... I was at 210 mm and fighting hard to get the focus on these little things (about 15-20 would cover my pinky nail). This was the cropped version... the 2nd pic is the uncropped. For $75.00? I'm...

Post your 'before' and 'after' pictures

Messin' around and took out a window... recovered some shadowed areas in the facial region too. Mostly just playing around.

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Last night of the "advanced" class, and we got a model in the studio to pose as we wished... I *SO* need a lot more work in posing, but came up with a few shots I liked. We were shooting high key on a white paper background. Strobe on each side with a huge softbox for each, hairlight, and two...

    Print Portfolio

Any recommend a good portfolio for showing 8x10 sample prints? Would love one that I might find locally, but don't mind online suggestions as well.

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Adventures in light painting in class this week. This was a simulated product shoot, completely dark room with nothing but an up close penlight then a pass behind with a red light wand.

Shoot through umbrella on the move!

Have any of you ever used a "hand held" umbrella/flash set up for roving portraits? With an assistant (my son or wife usually) and sometimes even 1-handed with the camera on a tripod, it seems like it would be easier than moving a stand all over creation. I've seen some on a bit of a pole...

    Post your sun/sunshine pictures.

@Marilynne and @MartinCornwall... You're making my heart hurt! Just under 3 months until I can get back for a short dose.

Pretzel and the Gypsy King - A Tale of Adventure (cum a spus de fotografie) for 2015

Unwilling model. I was holding an umbrella with my speedlight attached in one hand, and one-handing the Beast in the other, and snuck up on my boy to test the shoot-through lighting. His expression tells how pleased he was... LOL

What are your top 5 tweaks in lightroom?

Very true, and I should have mentioned, once I'm done with the entire process, if it's going to be a printed image I *DO* run output sharpening as my final step. Good point @WayneF!
