On Monday I was lucky enough to spot 2 fox cubs as they ran back into their earth (the name for a fox den in case anyone was wondering). So I went back on Tuesday morning and found a good spot close to the earth and downwind, where I could set up a makeshift hide with some camo netting, ready...

I'm still shocked by how much cropping I feel I can get away with using this lens. Some might feel this is too much but to me the IQ is still very useable. I'll post the cropped pic with my standard editing with another from the same sequence SOOC. Btw I'm really chuffed to have got shots of...

@Fortkentdad if you do get the kenko 1.4TC I'll be very interested to see how you get on. The Nikon one is more money than I'd want to pay for something that I might end up not using very much. If the Kenko produces good results I might be persuaded to add it to my bag.

This one is shot through some fairly dirty glass.

Met a friend out today who wanted to try the 200-500mm, he was using 300mm f/4 PF with 1.4 teleconverter. He's just compared shots taken of the same subject with both and the 200-500mm outperformed it. He may well swap his primes for this lens and get a D500 with what is left over. Here's one...

This photo sucks but it did help me to identify the bird that was making a really odd sound, almost like a penguin to my ear. From this pic I guessed it was a snipe and I found out they make a strange drumming sound with modified tail feathers as part of their breeding display. Not my video...
