@Blacktop, I think the OP might have been using Amazon.co.uk prices, the Tamron 90mm VC is £349 on there.

Congratulations on your new acquisitions @Fortkentdad It would be interesting to see some test shots of the same subject both with and without the TC. If you do feel inclined to do this and get the chance, I'd be very interested to see the RAW files. Looking forward to seeing more real world...

Painted Lady on gorse. I thought this lens would be good for butterflies but this was the first time I could try it out. It's nice not to have to get too close and risk them flying off. Which is better, 1st or 2nd? I can't quite decide.

This was one of those great moments to capture when you wish you were half the distance away and had beautiful golden hour light. As it is, high iso (edit: not as high iso as I thought but still not ideal) and big crop but I still really like this photo.

    Photos with a Kit Lens

I took this one near Queenstown with 18-55mm kit lens (older non VR version). I don't like this lens but it can get good results. I think the newer VR versions are better. I'd like to get the 18-140 though as a replacement.

Here is a 1:1 crop (is that the same as 100% crop? It matches 1:1 in lightroom) SOOC, just imported into lightroom and then exported longest edge 1000pixels, 72ppi. No sharpening or post processing has been done.
