    Powerbank

It depends on the camera. Most, if not all, Nikon Z cameras support charging through USB connection, as do some DSLRs. You should be able to use a standard cell phone backup battery and the appropriate connector cable. Check your model's manual to see if you can charge via USB connection.

    Needa's Insipid Images

The starburst through the window really makes this image. Nice job.

    Z8 firmware 3.0.0

I updated with a Nikon Z lens attached. I then tried using some non Nikon extension tubes. I now have a large crater in my back yard. OK, just kidding, it worked fine. Of course, I'm pretty sure the extension tubes don't have any electronics in them. They do have connections between the lens...

    Noob-Leaves - Too Bright

Here is an example: This image was shot in early morning. The light was fairly even, as opposed to harsh daylight. The tree behind the birds is in shadow, this would make the meter try to even things out and expose just a little under for the shadows, and a good bit overexposed on the bright...

    Noob-Leaves - Too Bright

Just because the meter says it's the correct exposure, doesn't make right. When you have a scene that has a large difference between the lightest parts of the scene, and the darkest, there will be portions that are either under or overexposed. In this case you have a lot of the scene that is in...

Flash vs Available Light for Insects

Here's another that I played around with the settings to get what I wanted. It was late afternoon, and the available light was fading. I was checking on the flowers and noticed a dragonfly hanging out on one of the flowers, so I ran grabbed my camera. The first shots had a very dark background...

Anyone try AF for macro with their Z8?

I've been meaning to try this out of curiosity for a while. I finally decided to go out back and see how well it might work. With my Z5 and Z7ii, AF was a real no go for macro work IME. I was hoping that perhaps the improved AF might actually allow me to use AF. I can manage with MF, but get a...

    p1100 conectivaty issues.

Snapbridge is widely viewed as a troublesome app. I've gotten it to work on a couple Nikons, but I find that it's usefulness to me is very limited, and not worth the hassles.

Interesting data from my Youtube channel

I'll not hold my breath. Slideshows are not exactly a popular type of video. Add to that I won't even begin to comment on whether my images are good enough to attract a lot of interest. I could probably greatly increase my viewership by coming up with eye-catching clickbait titles. My buddy...

Interesting data from my Youtube channel

I have a small Youtube channel that is basically slideshows with royalty free music using my macro and wildlife images. I started it to be able to post a slideshow here on a slideshow thread, and kept at it so that friends and family could follow my photography, and occasionally add new content...

    Went to the gym today

Well, after over a week I have seen a pattern emerge. In the last 10 days I've been to the gym 7 times. I've spent about 45 minutes each visit on the treadmill, adjusting the speed and incline to the high end of my target heart rate (85% of my max heart rate). I then spend enough time on three...

Trying my hand at dragonflies in flight

Went out today with the CNPA outing. Tried a few different settings, and a different lens. Some things worked and some didn't. I managed to get some in flight shots that were fairly sharp. I probably needed to be a little closer, or a little longer on the focal length, as I had to crop them...

    Silversnapper's Happy Snaps

I often take shots of insects and then discover another much smaller insect in the shot when I edit it.

Trying my hand at dragonflies in flight

Went back out to Cypress Gardens this morning to take some more dragonfly pictures. I was using my 200-500 in order to get some distance and had it mounted on my Z8. After taking a number of shots, I decided to try using the prerelease capture feature and try and capture some shots in flight. It...

    Silversnapper's Happy Snaps

You gotta learn to sneak up on em! Seriously, bees don't stay in one place for very long at all. Cool mornings can improve your odds. They move a little slower when it's cool. Be careful about quick movements when approaching. I've had some critters be very comfortable with me being quite...
