What is Lawrence up to - 2015?

I am ultra pleased with this selfie.
Taken in very bright daylight!
I was testing a method of getting a dark background in bright light with no backdrop.
One off camera flash used.

Post processing was a crop to get the eyes at the 1/3rd line and a tiny bit of sharpening. No adjustments were made to exposure!
Whoo hoo - I am chuffed.

I went to the Zoo again today - 3rd week in a row! Not bad for a non-zoo type.

A local camera shop had a well known Wildlife Photographer promoting the other brands gear and supposedly giving a few tips.

I took this little fellows portrait through glass in a dark interior with my macro lens.
I had to open the aperture for light which resulted in a very shallow depth of field.

But still a handsome, if somewhat cheeky looking, little fella.

Well the green chappie was a handsome fellow, so what's the problem?

No problem but I don't want to be seen as taking credit for someone else's good looks. You have what you get given and have to just live with it.
Seriously if I put that photo up on say my online dating profile I would soon enough get caught out and besides annoying some gorgeous woman (or women even) I will have wasted everyone's time.

Maybe, maybe not. Don't forget the princess who was kissing on the frog.

I spent some time yesterday fine tuning my 70-300mm lens. Its now on +5 but I was all over the place with it.
So it needed a test today and I took a walk around the back yard. Found the cat lurking amongst the lavender and was lucky to spot him.

Following on a discussion I had with a fellow club-member I have set my second card to shoot in monochrome. Its an interesting experience that makes me a bit more aware of light.
I think quite a few of my photos will be B&W for a while.

Awesome shots buddy! I love them! The first and third are my favorites of the three shot!:D

Well you should be glad he did buddy! Because the plants framing his eyes really put a wildness into the photos making them awesome with your talented self behind the camera to shoot them! :)

Thanks Bill. They're a bit different to the normal pet shots and also quite out of character for Baxter. :)

I went to Hahei this weekend which is the closest little settlement to the famous Cathedral Cove. It was a gruelling and fast paced walk to get there by sunrise and we almost made it. All in all the walk took about 35 minutes of very undulating terrain and heaps of stairs both up and down. New Zealand makes a real effort wen it comes to making decent walking tracks for vistors.

My old knees and ankles took a pounding but it was well worth it. Best time to go is low tide as the cave is then accessible and one can walk through it.
