This is a long exposure I tried with my new ND Variable filter - probably the only successful one; the rest came out blue!

Very nice Lawrence!! :D
....just wondering why you had the aperture so wide open. I only ask coz I'm not sure what you actually wanted to achieve in the shot. What WB did you have set? Just wondering if it was responsible for the blueness of the other shots :D

Aren't you an observant and inquisitive little thing!? :)
Wide open aperture and all the other stuff was to try out my 10 stop ND circular filter. Explains the blue too. I have several shots with different apertures and shutter speeds as I spent some time playing around. There was plenty of light but I wanted a long exposure.

I went to the beach specifically to get a blurred shot of a bird.
The idea was to create one of those artie type photos that are so effective.
I used a slow shutter speed to get the wing action knowing that I would have an overall blurred image - even more so with panning (not wanting the background in focus either)

I sort of failed in my initial goal but got 2 photos that I really like. Here is one of them.

I think the other one is better still but not processed yet.

I was invited along to a model shoot yesterday and had a lot of fun. Took over 170 photos - crazy I know but, hey I had to do something while the model was prepared to pose.

i think I need to get into this sort of stuff because people actually pay to have their photos taken for their portfolio. I think it is nice work if you can get it.
What I don't know is how to set it up for people to view if they are thinking of hiring me. My initial thoughts are to set up a portfolio in Flickr - I think you can do separate albums there.

Here are the first 2 shots I have processed.

Nice shots!! I Like :D but then I like your candid street shots and the shots you've taken when you have just asked people as well, so maybe this is your thing :D
