Yeah, I'd love to flick a switch and have everything moved over, but it would take a lot of time and planning. It would be Xenforo, which is what's on Cameras Without Mirrors but obviously look more like Nikonites does now. Some features would go away, but it would be more reliable and get consistent updates to the back end.

I do have to say that the support and community for XenForo is pretty robust. Admin has been pretty darn easy.

I just tested in Firefox 46 and 47 and can't seem to replicate the issue. What version are you using? You cache was cleared, right?

The current version is 50.1; yes, cleared cache, cookies, etc

Just uploaded this with 50.1.

The only other thing I can think is that it's not loading or allowing the flash uploader to work correctly. You may have to allow this file specifically: https://nikonites.com/clientscript/yui/uploader/assets/uploader.swf

You may have previously allowed the http version to run, but now need to authenticate it with https.

Could all of this have to do with Flash ? I find there are often flash updates incentives, but when I look at my current version, it's often newer than the available update... And Apple is trying hard to remove flash from their browsers.

All icons except font and size are now missing from the reply window. Safari v 10.0.2
Bugger, same thing I had 2 days ago. And things are all back to normal for now... Things got better after I did OS security updates

I've never been asked to allow anything -- and why would it suddenly stop working five days ago? I post to half a dozen forums most days and this is the only place that has a problem.

How do I 'Allow' it? Clicking the link just opens a blank tab.

Check this:

  • Choose Firefox > Tools > Add-ons. Open the Add-ons dialog box.
  • Select Plugins.
  • In the list of Add-ons, look for Shockwave Flash (another name for Flash Player) and check the status that appears to the right of the plug-in name.

If it's disabled or says 'ask to activate' that's probably the issue. Although you would see a message in Firefox when trying to upload a file here if that was the case.

It probably stopped working correctly when the URL of the file changed (from http to https). There has to be something getting the location of the file mixed up or not running it at all.

If you can do this, it'll help a lot... With the image dialog up (like in your screenshot) right click and select 'inspect'. Post screen shot of what it says.

Check Safari's <preferences<security<external module permission (button in the bottom) and then make certain that flash is "enabled" for Nikonites. Seems this is what cured my problem.

I changed to Ask, which it did when trying to upload. The address shown was the correct https... The upload failed as usual

Which part? Inspect Elements is a long page of code -- do you want all of it?

Actually, can you click on "Console" after right clicking and selecting Inspect with the Insert Image dialog up? Are you shown any errors besides "Blocked loading mixed active content “http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js”" ?

Also, if you hover over the red exclamation point after trying to upload something, what does it say?

Additionally it's weird that you aren't given the option for the "Basic Uploader"

Yeah, the uploader uses flash, unfortunately. It'll work no matter the version, but browsers are moving away from supporting it all together, yes.

Stuff like this always happens when I change the location of files. It likely has to do with caching (DNS and local), and other stuff that browsers do to save on download time when revisiting the same page. I know you've experienced issues with DNS caching before. Which has to do with your internet provider.

Did that, restarted Safari, and things seem to be back to normal THANKS!

The Basic option disappears after getting the failed upload. I have to abandon the post, refresh the page, then begin again and choose Basic to begin with

Well this time it wasn't caching because I did change DNS server and it didn't change a thing. It was the "Flash" player that my browser had disabled for Nikonites...
So now it's good.

Thanks John for all your work.

Okay, thanks! Something is definitely preventing the connection from happening with flash and ssl. I'm assuming it works with the basic uploader since you're posting images? Are you behind a Firewall or some kind of antivirus?
