Well I ran into a side effect! Though I didn't realize it, smoking helped a little with my agoraphobia. Going into town after quitting smoking caused my neck, back, and hips to hurt serverly, due to tensing up. So now I have to take my anxiety meds every time I leave the house to compensate.
It was just a surprise, that cigarettes had a positive feature for my condition! Lol :)

But the meds work just fine and I have no intention of smoking ever again. It's getting easier these days and the cravings aren't as often as they were. I haven't found any activity to take it's place, but I'm doing well regardless. :D

Here is an activity you could try: Keep a camera handy and every time a craving comes, grab the camera and take a picture. You can then make an album of what the cravings inspired to shoot. :) Keep breathing!

That's good that the meds are helping and you have no desire to smoke. As for an activity, how bout a vegetable garden?
Just love home grown tomatoes.

There's a good possibility that the reduced anxiety you got from cigarettes was due more to the deep breathing involved in smoking, and was not because of the carbon monoxide, nicotine, and injurious tars and resins you were inhaling with those deep breaths. If you get anxious, smoke a pantomime cigarette with the same deep breaths. I bet your anxiety will lessen.

Hey Pete, I sent you an email buddy! No I'm not into gardening. I had to do too much of that when I was a kid. Though I also love good tomato's. Lol :)

I did try that, but it didn't work. Nicotine can have a calming effect. But like I said, my meds work fine. I just thought it was funny that cigarettes had one positive effect that I never new about, lol :)

Just a word of caution Bill. Beware of the sudden crave as it can happen any time. Second, remember that the only thing keeping you from your first cigarette will always be 1 arm's length... Keep breathing.

Good luck w it Bill!

A tip?

Let's say you smoked 2 packs a day.....every day you don't smoke the approximate equivalent amount of cash goes in a sacred can.

If you lapse your sacred can cash goes elsewhere......you will have a brandy new FX kit before you can shake 2 sticks!

True story. Had a young female friend many years ago, in mid 20's and a chain smoker. She set up her can with the goal of a new Mazda Miata....she was going thru over 3 packs a day (this was back in the day when you could smoke all day at work)

She picked out a sweet red Miata 5 speed not too soon after starting her quest. The lure of the sweet ride was greater than the thoughts of yellowing her teeth and shortening her life....

Go get em! You lapse, no camera!
