RON's A ROUND TUIT THREAD

Thanks Wendy. I think every line of poetry and every line from a song forms a picture in our mind that helps us to relate to the message that the line conveys. Photos can trigger our memory and often remind us of a verse we really liked. But sometime a photo will evoke an emotion for which we have no words.

That is so true.

Thanks Wendy. It is woefully over saturated. But i like it anyway. It almost looks like HDR> The poor photo has been edited in 2 0r three different programs but has somehow survived.

Very nice seed pot Ron. Is the black walnut a local wood?
Yes. it was from a tree taken down in a local yard. It was already dry when i acquired it so was a lot harder to turn as you well know. Of course an actual seed pot would be smaller with a much smaller opening to deter rodents. i do have two blocks of spalted soft maple which i may turn shortly. Turning is like a lot of other skills. Use it or lose it.

I've lost it. Chris told me I need to be retrained. Haven't turned in a couple of years. Chris hasn't lost his touch.

Well I have a block of Osage Orange i could send you. If you could turn that you could turn anything. Will post some little vases i turned from Osage Orange when i get around to photographing them. it turns a lovely light brown as it ages. Once did a similar seed pot with powdered Turquoise inlay. it was very nice but very tough on the turning tools.

Today's walkabout netted a couple of beauties from this year"s proliferation of lilies.
First a Stargazer, not usually found in local gardens. This was in a churchyard_AAA3152 - Version 2 - 2014-07-15 at 18-45-40.jpg
And one more lovely lilly._AAA3141 - Version 2 - 2014-07-15 at 18-28-49.jpg

Osage Orange vase 4" tall. Tough and viberous it was used by Native Americans for arrow shafts and midwestern farmers would plant them in rows to act as cattle fences. Really nasty thorns._AAA3168 - Version 2 - 2014-07-16 at 12-09-28.jpg

Nice. Do I detect a touch of natural edge or is that just extra spalted?? Hard to tell from this angle.
