For us who don't know - which flower is this last one?
Its very beautiful.
It is a tree blossom. I believe it is called a Jeruselem Dogwood. Wev would probably know for sure. We have pink and white dogwoods blooming now. They are so lovely in woodland settings but many are planted as ornamentals in suburban settings. Of course Dogwood was said to be the wood of the true cross of Jesus Christ.

Uhmmmn I am not sure but last one looks a bit like our magnolia? It lost its flowers already, so cannot compare.

Lovely shots :)

Coming home today I noticed the Rhodys are starting to bloom. Went out at dusk to get a photo but it was way underexposed but I think that I have been able to retrieve it with Aperture._AAA2464 - Version 2 - 2014-05-16 at 19-42-50.jpg

This is a test of my three main lenses all taken in AF with the minimum shooting distance. I will let you all decide what you think works best. First my Tokina 35mm macro_AAA2534 - 2014-05-23 at 19-43-48.jpg

Next is my Nikon 50 1.8d I have to step back to achieve focus here._AAA2536 - 2014-05-23 at 19-45-49.jpg

Now my 16-85, first at 34mm_AAA2540 - 2014-05-23 at 19-48-32.jpg

and the same lens a 48 mm. Surprisingly
, this lens focuses about 3" closer than the 50mm_AAA2541 - 2014-05-23 at 19-48-42.jpg

i like the first one best Ron
Thanks Roy, so do I. That lens will minimum focus at 5.5". I think it did the best job. At that v
focal length it is easy to block your light and you have to orient yourself so you cast no shadow. Sometimes you can miss a shot because of that but otherwise it does very well.

Went to the woods again just to see my big leaf magnolia. the leaves are already quite large_AAA2545 - Version 2 - 2014-05-24 at 14-43-10.jpg

Looking closer I see a bud! it has not yet bloomed_AAA2556 - Version 2 - 2014-05-25 at 18-09-18.jpg
But, i leave tomorrow for the Blue Ridge parkway and will not be back until next Sunday. if it blooms and fades while I am gone I will just spit. Might find one in bloom down in North Carolina; we will just have to see.

Only going as far south as Little Switzerland. Will then start back north on small surface roads winding around to Burke's Garden Virginia and then from there back to Pittsburgh. I only travel about 150 miles a day when on these trips so I have time to chase photos.

If ever a road could be described as America's longest scenic route it is the Blue Ridge Parkway_AAA2585 - Version 2 - 2014-05-27 at 08-13-14.jpg
from scenic views_AAA2609 - Version 2 - 2014-05-27 at 09-22-03.jpg
to stately trees_AAA2570 - Version 2 - 2014-05-26 at 15-59-24.jpg
and so many flowering shrubs like the ever-present rhody_AAA2587 - Version 2 - 2014-05-27 at 08-15-24.jpg
the magnificent flame azalea_AAA2632 - Version 2 - 2014-05-27 at 13-07-01.jpg
not to mention the mountain laurel_AAA2596 - Version 2 - 2014-05-27 at 08-29-34.jpg
Even a short ride don the Parkway is a visual delight.
