Day 11 - Jan 11, 2013

I continued attempting to learn some of the cameras inner features for edit.
I have looked at Image overly but need the proper photos so that will come later. I also
looked at some of the filter edits such as starburst... Not bad but my images did not impress
so I killed them too... BUT, I learned more stuff and thats important to me.

What I did salvage, a color sketch and a selective color, both of which I thought
came out decent... Below is the Original, the selective color image and the color sketch!

Original
Color Sketch
Selective Color
Now off to learn about some tripyychs stuff for this months contest! :highly_amused:

Have fun...

Even your Color Sketch shows the relflection of the immaculate floor, Pat...

Neat to see the original image, and then the two alterations, so you can compare.

Pat you have some nice shots there. I really like the color sketch version. I'm not a fan of selective color but you did a very good job on this one.

Thanks Jeff... some of the best selctive color is red rose etc with a bride. I wanted to try something different and had not seen too many in an industrial setting. I remembered the yellow from my other days shots with HDR so thought it might make a good candidate. Like you, I am not a big fan so you likely won't see another from me for awhile! I do think this worked with the yellow... :)

Nice how you caught the moon above the building!

Thanks Rick! I had seen the bldg with its glow before, its right on my way to work. I had about stopping to take a shot of it. It was just dumb luck that the moon slice was in that position at that time. I was so surprised when I walked up the hill and saw it, just hoping it would come out in the shot!

day 13 - Jan 13th, 2013.....

Not a great day... another damp foggy one and I had to pack gear for a trip, do a study on my SB 700 (appearing elsewhere) and need to go play inthe mud on my Ural... so, this is all I have today...

Chess .... Two different perspectives....

DSC_2828.jpg DSC_2824.jpg

the first is pretty much straight on and other than DOF offers not much impact... too symmetrical
I like the 2nd better... more drama in the angle and interesting to note, since at an angle,
the DOF falls off on the back row, both left and right... BUT, look close to the left, the 2 pawns
in the next row are in focus as they are on the same plane in the photo as the King and Queen.

Have a great day....

Good shots...nice illustration of DOF, too.

Nice to see someone else playing this game. I've been playing with a friend almost every monday night for over 35 years. And I'm still learning. Sometimes not... :)
