Pat, I wish you well on your up coming retirement in 2014. April 1st I will have completed my 9th year of retirement and April 2nd start my my 10th year. I only have two words for you........ IT'S GREAT!!! The only down side is that you no longer get weekends and Holidays off, they are just another day.

2.5 years of retirement for me! It's great! You'll love it! Thank you for still working though, so I can enjoy my retirement.

Time to Rant a bit... This is hard in the Northest when you are working... It is dark when I go to work, dark when I come home... That leaves me with Industrial shots from work or stuff around the house.. I will be glad when spring arrives and I can see daylight again!Rant OFF :)

Thank you Rick! I already read that (Excellent) before I saw the reply.. I am in a rural area so I have a couple ponds etc that I stop at and try and catch things around work at lunch or on the way home if I have daylight.

I am sure others will also appreciate your tips... and I for one sure appreciate it...

Ok, that forces the question, what was your last job??? (if you don't mind)

Pat in NH

For 25.5 years I was a mainframe programmer for Palm Beach County. High pressure. For 5.5 years I was a driver license examiner for the State of Florida - nickname was The Terminator. High pressure also, but without a beeper and phone calls in the middle of the night. Same retirement system!

Day 9 - Jan 9th, 2013

I took my 18-55 to work today, I wanted to get some interiour shots (our plant is pretty clean and colorful). I figured I would shoot some brackets and try a couple HDR's and maybe a panorama.

First up - The HDRs... all 3 shot bracketed 1.3..
Out in the back half of the main plant.
This houses our larger (500 -800 ton Machines)

Door at the back left of QC

This one is in QC looking from my office out.
Door at the far left is where the previous photo was.

While I was shooting in QC (and its small), I thought
I maybe it would be my panorama!! Below is the result,
non HDR, 3 horiz stitched.

I shot a few more but no keepers, except maybe 1?!

Day 9 continued... did I mention a keeper???

Well I liked it. The main plant is 24 hours and our ToolRoom is only
1st shift. I come in through there in the morning and it is usually
dark as I am the first in normally. Anyhow, I looked out when
I ws done and saw the following image... I liked the lighing from the
night so snapped this before I went to work..

Pat, you have a nice touch with HDR. Great shots of your workplace...neat and clean looks to be an understatement!

500 to 800 tons...wow...that explains the serious beams and posts I see.

That reminds me, I need to lose some more weight! ;)

Thank you Carroll... I actually went to work today with the intent to do the HDR shots.. I thought they enhanced the detail and the color so was pleased. The plant gets all kinds of accolades when customers tour for how clean it is ..

We actually have machines from 16 ton up to the 800 ... That room just houses the big'uns!

Day 10 - Jan 10th, 2013

Today I decided to try a couple night shots on the way in to work..
1st Dunkin Donuts, not where I stop but on my way in.. (the shot of
where I stop was terrible...
2nd, this bldg is at the corner of the street I work on... it always has this
glow so I stopped to shoot it, then noticed the sliver of moon!

To finish up, I played with some of the camera features for edit. I did an
image overlay, fisheye multi exposure etc.. nothing worth posting but at least I was
learning the camera and its abilities. I did get a decent "selective color". Nothing
to brag about but not ashamed so I will show...

Anyway, thats it for today. Its been warming up so my next
shots may just be "mud" as the snow is melting.

Day 11 - Jan 11, 2013

I continued attempting to learn some of the cameras inner features for edit.
I have looked at Image overly but need the proper photos so that will come later. I also
looked at some of the filter edits such as starburst... Not bad but my images did not impress
so I killed them too... BUT, I learned more stuff and thats important to me.

What I did salvage, a color sketch and a selective color, both of which I thought
came out decent... Below is the Original, the selective color image and the color sketch!
