Day 041

As you can clearly see, the process begins with a molecule of glucose being broken down by the process of glycolysis into pyruvate: C[SUB]6[/SUB]H[SUB]12[/SUB]O[SUB]6 [/SUB]→ 2 CH[SUB]3[/SUB]COCOO[SUP]− [/SUP]+ 2 H[SUP]+[/SUP]

This reaction is accompanied by the size difference of two molecules of NAD
[SUP]+ [/SUP]to NADH and a net of two ADP molecules converted to two ATP plus the two water molecules.

Pyruvate is then converted to acetaldehyde and carbon dioxide by an enzyme called pyruvate decarboxylase and requiring thiamine diphosphate as cofactor. The acetaldehyde is subsequently reduced to ethanol by the NADH from the previous glycolysis, which is returned to
NAD[SUP]+[/SUP]: CH[SUB]3[/SUB]COCOO[SUP]− [/SUP]+ H[SUP]+ [/SUP]→ CH[SUB]3[/SUB]CHO + CO2 CH[SUB]3[/SUB]CHO + NADH → 2 C[SUB]2[/SUB]H[SUB]5[/SUB]OH + NAD[SUP]+ [/SUP]

Simply put:
C[SUB]6[/SUB]H[SUB]12[/SUB]O[SUB]6[/SUB] + Zymase → 2 C[SUB]2[/SUB]H[SUB]5[/SUB]OH + 2 CO[SUB]2[/SUB]

I'm kinda bummed, my printer has a bad PZT in the print head. I took the head out and flushed it with magic juice, and still it doesn't work. So the printouts of my wine labels are all screwed up.

All of my wine usually have a label that looks like this.

Oh well... Can't have it all.

Did ya know if you crop the first photo, it looks like Pizza!!

Ah... Fermentation. :)

That is a Giottos Rocket Blower. The large size I do believe. It's for blowing air on your camera/lens/pinky toe/whatever. :D

Does anyone else see anything fundamentally wrong with this whole situation??

...and on another note, my camera was on the tripod a few days ago and I bumped into it and it fell over on the backside of the camera onto a cement floor. The tripod was at it's lowest setting, so it wasn't up high. Ever since I think I've been having problems with the focus, but then I think maybe it's just my imagination. But looking at the picture today, it appears the left side is all in focus, but the right side isn't. But it might of been the tree moving... it is windy out. Perhaps I should get a better exposed picture first, huh?

--edit--

Ok, nevermind, I think I'm overreacting. I looked at the photo 100% cropped. The only thing in focus are those bushes on the left, which are actually lilacs. Probably due to the f/2.8 I shot it at. ;)

I was thinking more along the lines of, oh I don't know... there's actually palm trees where my wife is, and there isn't any where I am!! I think that's just not right. :)

I can't say anything about the composition. Mine's been awful the last few days. I just haven't been physically feeling good lately. I came home today, crawled into bed for a couple hours, crawled back out, grabbed my camera, walked outside... click. Looked at it and thought, "Yup, that's a picture" and there ya have it, crawled back into bed for awhile, crawled back out to see if the 13 year old was still alive, and stopped at my computer. Now I'm going back to bed with my good friend Nyquil.

Day 045, Valentines Day!

I took this for my beautiful wife for Valentines Day. She is currently in the Dominican Republic as Team Leader for The Midwest Medical Mission group. They go down every year this time and see patients for free who would otherwise not have access to medical services. The last I heard, as I haven't talked to her today, they've seen over 600 patients in the clinic and have done over 60 surgeries... Since Monday.

Next year, I'm going with them as the hospital itself needs some serious help. Mostly their electrical services. Seriously, she showed me a picture of one of the circuit breaker panels (if you could call it that...) I'm not so sure I actually want her in that building now... Sigh...

Anyway, since her wedding ring is on her finger, I grabbed one out of her jewelry box. I think it's one of her baby rings... It's really tiny. You'd never know if I didn't tell you, so just pretend I didn't tell you.

I took a picture like this sometime last year, but with just my ring. I didn't actually read the text on the pages I used until some stranger on flickr made a joke about the "Cooch Tent". There were other such literary "sayings" that I won't mention here. The lesson learned? Never trust a book with a picture of an elephant on the cover. So, this is kind of my do-over. I used a medical dictionary this time, so even if there is something nasty in the words, at least it'll be the proper term for the nastiness.

Very cool! Love it! The choice of book isn't terribly romantic though hahaha

It actually is. Ya need the back story though...

We met many eons ago when she was just finishing up her last year in nursing school. She was always referring to the book in that picture. So I'm trying... Our first valentine's together I had a song made for her. It's been downhill since as far as valentine gifts go. Lol

Found it!

This is the reason why all my valentines day gifts have been downhill since we met.

In the interest of full disclosure, if you decide to watch this;

Ladies: You will cry.
Guys: You will cry. You won't admit it.

My wife's name is Julia, she has blue eyes, and we were in Michigan on our first Valentines day. I had the song made a long time ago, the following video/slideshow was made last year. It's just our kids.

No, unfortunately I yielded my, ahem, awesome voice to the professionals. Definitely couldn't afford to have that song made at the time, but I did it anyway. Eating is so over rated anyway...

Day 046

I was on a nature walk looking for some wildlife to photograph when I ran across these two aptenodytes patagonicus' just wandering around.

I mean who knew they were native to NW Ohio!?
