This one is much better.

Yay!

Ok, I'll use that one for today's photo then. LOL

I don't understand why the whole thing got brighter, or appear to get brighter, by bringing the contrast up. I guess I'm going to have to do white on white for awhile to understand it all.

Day 054 (Do-Over Day!)

I grabbed my laptap, fired up the heat in the barn and spent 2 hours in and out reading and taking photos. 47 in total, and the fourth one I took was the one I used.

Unfortunately, Mr. Snowman met his untimely demise last night. Rest in peace.

The setup, right outside the barn door.

The final product, which I'm completely happy with on either screen. The cat hair, which is everywhere, even shows up.

Nice photo of the egg. You cannot have a good photo without at last a few strands of cat hair. :) Check out a lot of mine. I always notice the cat hair after I've uploaded the photos to my computer.

Day 055

I forgot my camera today, so all we get is a cell phone shot. We were all telling my niece she was a zombie, but she wasn't buying it. Not one little bit.

Day 056

Today, my 13 y/o son requested this photo for the photo of the day. We're growing "Ruby" crystals, and it's in a seriously dark red liquid for two more weeks or so.

So, I busted out every light I could find to blast through the liquid, and this is what we came up with.

Remember the movie Children of the Damned?? Wrong color hair though.

That's sooo funny because that's exactly what I thought when I looked at it. 'Cept we were in a church at a spaghetti dinner/auction to benefit the youth group. Thought it might of been a little inappropriate to bring that up. However, if I had mad photoshop skills (or any skills), she'd be there in an instant!

Maybe I'll ship it off to my daughter. :)

However, if you need a 200-300 dollar carnation just show up next year at the auction! ...and the flowers typically find their way back up front for re-auctioning.

Thanks Pat!

At least someone likes it. I put this on facebook and a bunch of people were like, "Uhhh.. It's just an egg in the snow."

Told 'em to quit dissin' the egg, then continued on that the photo was not about the egg, or the snow, or the egg in the snow. It's about me trying to figure out how to do white on white. Told them all to grab an egg, and run out and set it in the snow and take a picture of it, then we'll compare photos.

I don't know if they wrote me off as a nutcase, or actually went out and took a picture, but they shut up fast. I'm sure it was the first reason though. LOL

Day 056 (At Night!)

Walked outside and well... How could I resist that full moon just staring at me?

This one came out much better than the last one I did, and with about 80 less pictures taken too! The project 365 must be working!

Day 057 (The secret to Night 056)

For the moon shot last night, I used a 70mm zoom on the camera. However, I cheated and used an objective lens of 80mm in diameter with a focal length of 1200mm. It was touch and go to get it focused right, since my eyesight isn't up to par. I wound up turning off the autofocus and just did it manually, after I got the exposure the way I wanted it.

I think if I did the math right, and we all know how I do math. :p The total magnification of the moon in my setup would be 17.1428571429x, then throw in the crop factor and there's the final product.

Here's the lens I used. It's on the end of a telescope. I didn't use any eyepiece, though I tried a big 40mm and that didn't work at all. So I took it out, and it was just me holding the camera ever so steady as one mm to one side or the other and the whole moon disappeared. The lens is seriously dirty, it's been around for 40 some years and barely gets any use.

I know you can get a doohickey to hook your camera up to telescopes, but if I'm going to do that, I'm going to get a new telescope too!

Someone also told me if I go through all that trouble to take a photo of the moon, I should at least dress it up a bit.

Ok, here ya go...

Oh, that moon might be upside down too. Not sure, I'll have to look sometime in the day through the lens. But not while this ice storm is going, it's nasty out.

I think the white balance is off! I've heard of "Once in a blue moon" but this seems a tad bit off. LOL

Day 058

Well, the left brain has crunched all the numbers, critically thought and reasoned out logically that my right brain has died.

I tried probably 10 different things today with the camera, all got deleted. There's no more creativity in me. It's all gone, c'est la vie!

This is like three days in a row now, with nothing to write home about. Cabin Fever heading toward the apex! I should spiral out of control soon...

This is Lightroom.
