Day 188, 2013 - Watermelon Bug?

I have no idea what this is but it kind of looks like a watermelon. What I was really trying to capture is those to dark brown paddle like things off the front of its head. When it flew it they were open and they looked like giant eyelashes bigger than its head. I did not hurt the bug but did turn it over to catch a picture of the underside since it was so interesting.

Glad you two enjoyed the pictures. I was a very interesting bug.

Day 189, 2013 - C-130 Hercules

This model of plane was a best friend while in the U.S. Air Force. Unfortunately there wasn't a lot I could do with the photo since the plane tended to not circle around me to give me a better angle so what you see is what I got.

Did the bug taste like Watermelon :)

we have a plane that circles our house similar to the Hercules, will try and get a shot of it for you to identify Moab Man

Happy to look at it. If it looks like the Hercules, but only has two engines, it's a C-27J. However, post it up I would love to see it.

its a huge plane, takes off and lands at March Air base about 10 miles up the freeway, they seem to use the main road beside us as a turning point

In Montgomery is Maxwell Air Force Base where The 908th Airlift Wing flies the C-130. I would go by there before dawn every morning on the way to work. So many mornings there would be fog and you would just see parts of the aircraft through the fog. I always wanted to photograph that scene but there is no way to get on base to shoot.
