Project 365 2013 - A Learning Journey/Moab Man

So clearly I'm outta touch from the way everyone else viewed my photo of the old man traveling down the sidewalk of life towards the inevitable stop sign we will all come to. My wife wearing her little pointy psychology hat explained that I just don't see death the same way as everyone else. So, to make amends for my depressing picture here is a photo from yesterday I call...

So now you are saying we are all just two dimensional lifeless creatures?

Interesting style, but I'm not sure the mustash goes with that dress. I think he needs a full beard to pull that off better! Lol :D
Cool shot my friend! :D

That is gorgeous. The colors in the sky and the clouds are perfect. I am on my laptop so I could not quite make out what was in the field. It looks like a man fighting a bear though.

Yes, they were bear wrestling... or maybe it was frisbee? I'm not sure which, but either way you knew someone was going to lose their life.

Day 242, 2013 - The Long Road Traveled

I took a number of pictures tonight, some of them better or more unique pictures. However, this capture of the old man at the distant end of this long sidewalk just spoke to me and seemed symbolic of a long life. And the stop sign shrouded by the trees being just like our own lives; we never know when our own stop sign will show up.

I like the story and the picture. I´m generally not very editing minded, but here to focus even more on the old man and tunnel I was wondering if it is possible to gradually remove colour the further you go away from the man. Put a kind of spotlight on the man. Probably makes it even more depressing for some, but I think it just might make it even more in line with the story.

I like that; I will give that a try.

Day 244, 2013 - Baby

I don't like shooting people, I am really not fond of babies, but I had one on hand and decided to try and shoot the baby. WOW! Babies are really difficult. The baby seemed to instinctively know exactly where the camera was focused and would then violently yank her foot, hand, etc... out of my point of focus.

So how did I do? I think it turned out pretty well.

Day 246, 2013 - Welcome To My Lair

Headed back out to the neighbors bushes for another spider picture. I couldn't get them to come out and play so I could only shoot into the web tunnel.

Day 247, 2013 - Egg

I know that shooting an egg on a white background is an old mainstay for teaching and learning lighting. So I decided to do just a quick shot to see some of the challenges that would be involved. The shadows quickly show me the work to do with lighting. However, the orangish color showing through the bottom of the egg was actually showing like that to my eye. Do I have a thin shelled egg that the contents are tainting the light? Or is this just one more part of the lesson and that hopefully when the lighting is right you don't see it? Input appreciated.

I think at:

Aperture: f/8.0
Exposure Time: 0.0040 s (1/250)
ISO equiv: 100
Flash Fired: Yes (Auto, return light detected)

You had a lot of light so it might be transmitting through the egg. Flash was up and to the front a little?

SB400 flash. It was elevated and in front. I will play with this more.

Thanks Don.

I think if you just move the flash about twice as far away it will probably cut the light enough to stop the transmission of light through the egg but still have enough light to get the shot you want. I like the placement of the light though. the shadows are just right to let us know it is a real egg.

Day 248, 2013 - Flowers

I went out to shoot that stupid egg on white paper again, but the warmth made the egg sweat profusely so it was a no go. However, These flowers I had shot previously were still sitting in the clamp from previous and they looked too cool to pass up.

Your post made me laugh! Now I can't wait to see your shot of the egg (when it's not sweating)
