Project 365 2013 - A Learning Journey/Moab Man

Day 238, 2013 - Cell phone pictures, yuck!

The most incredible sunset with this ghostly wispies hanging down absolutely glowing gold from the setting sun. These spectacular clouds went from the horizon up over and behind me. Incredible sunset to shoot with the 11mm lens. However, all I had was my cell phone camera and this is what I got. I just don't get cell phone/ipad photography - the results are so painful.

Send it to your computer and open it in Bridge and then open in RAW and edit it. Carry clarity up and tweak the color. I have been surprised at how good they can look when we take the time we do on our DSLRs to edit proper.

Day 239, 2013 - The sunset that just didn't happen.

Last nights sunset was incredible and I missed it. With the same weather tonight I set up to capture it... but it wasn't meant to be. Don't like the photo at all. I've had a rough two days. If things truly do come in three's then I should have one more bad day before I get back to proper photography images. (crossed fingers)

This one is not so bad. I kinda like it.

Day 240, 2013 - Post-It Notes

Riding my bicycle home from school (work) and rolled through the local high school parking lot next to my house and saw this car. I had a good laugh as I circled around it a few times having a good laugh.

It was all in different languages.

we, beli, ves, jes, jah, aam, ano, ayo, yo

I'm guessing "yes."

We have the Homecoming game and dance so I'm guessing that is what it's for.

Day 241, 2013 - Mosquito and Spider with Prey

Never seen a mosquito with eyelashes.

This was a tough one to catch as the spider doing its thing kept moving as she took care of this mosquito.

Trying a little artsy creative. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

1. Which do you prefer, sharp or soft?
2. Why do you like that one?
3. Or... just scrap it! You're so far off the mark there is no saving you.

Personally, I like the softened one. My daughter prefers the sharper one.

Thank you for any thoughts.

I also prefer the sharp on this one, but I agree that sometimes sharp is not the best picture and this is a good example, for me:
1) The sharper one seems to represent the fashion model in this, seems your daughter does that OK.
2) The softer one is the beautiful person at a social event look. More mysterious. I bet if people see the picture without the other one, they will love it as well.

Completely agree with your observations.

Day 242, 2013 - The Long Road Traveled

I took a number of pictures tonight, some of them better or more unique pictures. However, this capture of the old man at the distant end of this long sidewalk just spoke to me and seemed symbolic of a long life. And the stop sign shrouded by the trees being just like our own lives; we never know when our own stop sign will show up.

Nice photo but it is just depressing.

Your comment is so interesting, and not a way I saw this. For me, I saw it as satisfying, completing a journey, a pleasant ride off into the sunset.

Which now has me curious how others see it? Everyone please comment.

It will all depend on where you are on that sidewalk. I am a lot closer to the stop sign than you are.

On the old man shot........like Don said. :)

On your daughter's shot......love the sharp one much better. It has detail and character...something the softer one is lacking.

So clearly I'm outta touch from the way everyone else viewed my photo of the old man traveling down the sidewalk of life towards the inevitable stop sign we will all come to. My wife wearing her little pointy psychology hat explained that I just don't see death the same way as everyone else. So, to make amends for my depressing picture here is a photo from yesterday I call...
