The B&W shots are great and show much more character and texture than the colour ones. That's the beauty of black and white. There is more emphasis on the subject matter rather than the colour of their clothing or hair or whatever. Your composition of those shots is excellent in my opinion, too.

Hi Jack,

The Metro Station is a combined subway and bus terminal. The people who approached me were city paid MTA security. I hung around a few more minutes but then left....

I must say when I first jumped into Project 365/366 I thought I'll never be able to do this. Every day shoot and post new pics??? Well it turns out I really enjoy this project. Looking at the regulars daily stuff is great and I check it out throughout the day to see what you guys are up to. Posting daily stuff makes me think about what to shoot and where to shoot. People or Nature or Pets or just a quick snap....

Before I go to sleep I already have an idea for the next day (at least the location) - Tomorrow it's either Street Photos up at Universal City Walk or if something really catches my eye on the Griffith Park hike in the morning (will have the camera with me just in case). Next week I'll start expanding my travels for Street Photos -- Downtown LA, China Town, Farmers Market, Alvera Street (old Cal/Mexico feel), more Hollywood stuff who knows it's only Tuesday ;)

Great street shots, Rick. Jack is right . . . if it's a public place, you don't need a permit. Some photographers are now carrying a card that spells out a photographer's legal rights. Check ASMP and NPPA (press photographers) websites.

So, I'm assuming they also approached every person who was photographing with their phones also?

It seems a lady complained to security because she didn't want me to take a picture of her and she thought I did. Actually I was shooting past her at the guy with the beard ;)

The day I was shooting in Hollywood - there are these guys that dress up in character like the Hulk or Michael Jackson (and get people to pay money to have their pic shot with them) and the dude that dressed like the hulk jabbered at me for 20 minutes about how they are trying to make a living and I shouldn't shoot them. I told him I was NOT interested in shooting people in costumes, I shoot real people who show their actual faces. He wouldn't buy it and kept jabbering but I ignored him and just kept doing my thing. He finally got bored and left ;)

I'll check out carrying a card with actual legal status of shooting on public property - I like that idea.

You should have told him to go get a life and get a real job like the rest of us. Does he pay Warner Brothers and the rest of them money for using their art work/ characters? I bet not. :)
