Pretzel's Snack-A-Day (365 for 2014)

Yup, black widow in FULL health, and not to be trifled with! That's why I got a couple of quick snaps then proceeded to the "smoosh" part, as in a public area like that, they are NOT safe! Rarely fatal, but they'll sure make a person wish they were dead, even with treatment.

Redbacks are also rarely fatal fortunately, as it is guesstimated that somewhere between 2 & 10 thousand aussies get bitten by them every year. They co-habit with humans quite well and get into clothing, hats, shoes and just any corner of your house. A house I owned some years ago was infested with them and every night (they are nocturnal) I had to do the rounds of the kids bedrooms to catch the ones bungee jumping from the ceiling before putting the kids to bed. Made life interesting for a while until we finally eliminated them totally.

Yep....they get a fairly short life like your black widows if they are found :D

Day 151 - it's been a week...

Very little motivation today, and didn't want to do another "flower" shot, so I waffled until I almost ran out of time. THEN, I remembered the two new additions to our household.

Meet our mini indoor palm (helps with purifying the air), and the 99 cent wonder... WORMIE! Supposedly, he's a tool for helping judge the moisture in the soil for plants that need a lot of water. Plenty? He's darker... Not enough? Light and dry.

Day151.jpg

1) It was really just a test to see if I could get a good shot with a lamp right behind the subject.

2) Well, it might be the last time we see Wormie. It seems to be the subject of many a joke these days, and the wife's ready to toss it out... :( (he might have to go live outside with my daisies)

Day 152 - Take me out to the ball game!

Got a day at the local ballpark with the wife's workplace. I was the official "family discount" photographer for a few awards, but the fun came when it was over and I got to swap to the 70-300 and test out CH on "Primal Beast". I left it on Raw + JPG, so was only getting bursts of 5 or 6 at a time before the buffer slowed down a bit, but that's all I needed for some great pitching series. They were all handheld, so you can see some movement, but I'm quite happy with the results!

This next one is my favorite action pic from the whole day.

I've got another "fave", but as it involves one of the employee's kids, I've gotta get permission before sharing. Hopefully I'll get it! :)

The last two shots in the first serious of shots are my favorites.
Way to go working the Primal Beast. Me and Stevie Nicks are impressed.:D

Then a few random shots from the night that I enjoyed...

Sliding in for the... OUT!

Day152-6.jpg

What did coach keep screaming? Oh yeah, watch the ball into the glove... WATCH IT INTO THE GLOVE!

Day152-7.jpg

Ok, what did that pic look like in the pitcher's manual again? Proud chest... overhead pendulum... got it!

Day152-18.jpg

Then here's the catch of the night. A Cardinals fan, the mascot Hornsby, and... A WOOKIE!

Day 152 - Final post, and my fave shot of the day. Had to wait and get mom's permission to share online.

3 different edits, my fave of which changes from moment to moment. Yesterday, it was the middle one, today it's a toss-up between the B&W and the dreamier look...

super cool shot! tells such a story. i'm leaning toward b&w only because of the red shirt right by her face. if that could be faded out or muted back, the center would be my fav. lovin' it in b&w though. nicely done.

What if I keep a little bit of the dreamy aspect, but drop most of the color except for the pinwheels?

Loved the chicken wing shot! That sure is a funky way he builds his wall though. His shoulder is going to take a beating later on.

You ever think about stacking these in a single photo?
