Pretzel, I like it very much. You are right the colored border makes the whole shot pop!!! it is such a beautiful flower and I like the black background. Way to go!!!!

Thanks! Love how uncomplicated it is to color match with the blooms, too, once I got the knack of it.

I REALLY, Really like that shot and the edit.

Thanks! ME TOO! This one is getting just a little more white added to the edge tonight, then going to my local print shop tomorrow so it can hang on my wall in one of those square floating frames. :) Thinking an 8x8 in a black rimmed 12x12 floater.

Yes!!!! I like that idea, 12x12 would work for me.

Day 143 - QUICK! Get the camera!

This was actually shot around... EARLY this morning as I headed to bed a few hours after I intended. It's our resident jumper, who doesn't come out much during daylight hours, and doesn't hang around long after he's been spotted. Grabbed the camera, which luckily had the 18-55 on it from some recent close focus shots, and had the chance for one shot before he disappeared. Looks like he was having a snack!

Creepy side angle shot that shows eyes on a couple of ridges on his back?

Some cracking shots on here fella, Liking the upgrade looking at a better camera my self. I kinda fancy going full frame if my wallet (wallet been the wife) will allow it!

Day 144 - Downtown Discoveries

Took a trip down to the Brady District on the edge of downtown today. Here was the view back to the heart of the city.

Day144-8.jpg

Noted. Apparently, though, someone has tried to remove the sign... I wonder who???

Day144-6.jpg

Had lunch at the Mexicali Border Cafe, and this internal window looked into the bar area. I thought it made for a nice shot even though the other customers were givin' me a funny look or two.

Day144-2.jpg

All sorts of interesting things to be found on the walls...

Day144-3.jpg

Like this guy. Not sure what the intent was, but by the looks of things, he's not enjoying it much.

Day144-4.jpg

Found this just a little further down. Interesting concept!

Day144-5.jpg

Then, our real destination. The Tulsa Violin Shop. Here's a row of instruments from inside the shop.

Day144-7.jpg

And a couple of views of the older decorative instruments that have been hung in the window. Coming and going.

Day 145 - From Fresh to Faded

Jumped out between showers today to grab a shot of one of the local wildflowers, and dabbled.

1st, the beauty of a fresh bloom on a (muggy) rainy spring day. (the winds seem to have dried up all the raindrops :( )

Day145-1.jpg

Then, a faded old photograph kept between the pages of one of Grandma's old Bibles?

Day145-2.jpg

Ahh well, that's the feel I get anyway.

Day 146 - A Day of Rest?

That's what a holiday off of work is supposed to be, right? Nah...

No formal pics today. The 1st part of the day WAS restful, as we got to sleep in! Then, the morning was spent hanging curtain rods (measuring, marking level, pre-drilling, etc) for the wife's newest drapery creations (1st pic). After that, I spent the afternoon crawling through the lands of repurposed furniture, antiques, and other... let's just call the other stuff "scary". We did find a nice end table though... (2nd pic). Followed that up with a trip to the grocery store and a nice sit down dinner with my wife and son, and well... we just relaxed after that. Ahhhh....... what a life!

Day146-1.jpg

Day146-2.jpg

Rained all day, so we didn't take our usual trip to the local National cemeteries for their Memorial Day activities/flags/etc., but my thanks goes out to all those who have sacrificed on my behalf. Happy Memorial Day!

WARNING: The next two day's pics are... blegh...

Day 147 - Trying to get a pic of the large print I won in it's new frame. Trying to get one light to light it up is practically..... impossible. Here was my best shot before I gave up in disgust. This snapshot does the pic no justice at all. It's a BEAUTIFUL print, and an amazing frame job, just doesn't look it here.

Day147-1.jpg

Day 148 - Watching some tutorials on one-light portraiture and practicing on the boy. Started with the "black studio background anywhere" technique, wasn't working out so well... so posting just a portion of one of the test shots. This is gonna take some work to get down. Imagine that!!

Day 149 - shots of opportunity

On the way out the door this morning, I saw the sunlight shining through the shades on the wife's new curtains, so snapped a shot just because...

Day149-2.jpg

Then, tonight, while watering the flowerbed, I almost reached out and brushed away some old cobwebs with my hand... but I got this feeling, so I stopped to take a look. GLAD I DID! Found not one, but TWO of these fat ladies with nests/webs very near to where I was standing. I didn't take long to snap the pic, as they could disappear at any second. 1 pic, 2 dead spiders. Time to call an exterminator to spray the yard!!

Yup, black widow in FULL health, and not to be trifled with! That's why I got a couple of quick snaps then proceeded to the "smoosh" part, as in a public area like that, they are NOT safe! Rarely fatal, but they'll sure make a person wish they were dead, even with treatment.
