Already encountered one in the tight aisles of the Phipps Conservatory. In addition to stare at his pad for long periods of time like he could not believe what he was seeing, he kept blocking the aisle. I wanted to push him into the giant barrel cactus but he dodged the cactus room. So I was not all that amused

An acquaintance of mine swears that he's going to bring spitballs and a straw to one of the band performances and shoot at the iPads blocking his view. I'll be happy to see that, as disgusting as it is.... :culpability: :culpability:

Day 53 - Wanderlust

So... it was a 68 degree weekend day in February, and we REALLY wanted to go to the zoo, but when we got there, it was OVERLOADED with people. So, since it's in the middle of a large park area, we decided to go to the local nature center instead and walk the many miles of trails through the wilderness. Sure, it's the tail end of winter, but there's still a lot to see for those willing to go slow and look. :)

Lots of interesting sights along the way, from things in seed to fungus.

One trail had a long pier-like bridge that went straight through a marsh or wetland area. So many people, even out here, that there wasn't a chance to spot wildlife, but I got a few cool shots of the cattails.

It ended up overlooking a huge lake upon which were HUNDREDS of wild geese. Let me tell ya, the racket this many geese makes is quite the symphony!

Day53-8.jpg

This island was in the middle of the lake, and there were probably another 100 or so geese on it.

This little beauty was the only bloom we saw, and was only about half the size of my thumbnail. Lucky find, as it was right in the middle of the path, so she may not last long.

You definitely had to watch where you were going any time you left the main paths, and even on the path sometimes, as the thorn vines are already AGGRESSIVELY growing! There were quite a few varieties, so of course I snapped a few pics!

All of this area is just north of the airport, and there was no chance you were going to forget that fact.

Great shots. Occasionally my wife wants to go to the zoo with me and those are the days everyone wants to be there. Being retired I go during the week in the morning or early afternoon. It is just me and the young mothers out walking their preschoolers.

I definitely enjoy my middle of the week jaunts, when I get the chance to take them! 20 people at the zoo is much more fun than 520!!

We went to the zoo last Tuesday and didn't know the kids got off school two days for Presidents day, actually the second day was a teacher planning day, whatever that is. It was crowded.

Day 54 - When opportunity knocks... SHOOT!

So I was there in the back yard, wondering if I just wanted another shot of yard birds, or if I'd rather wander in search of the perfect pic, when the dogs next door made up my mind!

1st, the European Starlings, or what we refer to as common yard birds.

Day54-1.jpg

Then a few shots of the neighbor's yappers peeking under the privacy fence to see what they were barking at.

Day54-4.jpg

Day54-2.jpg

This last one was my favorite of the bunch!

Day 55 - The Snack's Return!

Ok, same set-up as the M&M's, different snack. POPCORN! Not as colorful, but still a fun reflection.

Day55-2.jpg

Then an extreme close-up (or at least as close as the kit lens will get, which is pretty durn close!

I absolutely love popcorn! Nice capture! So....microwaved? Or did you kick it old school and air pop it? (I think air popped is best....i want popcorn now!)

This round was microwaved, although at times we'll break out the cast iron and do it the old fashioned way! (that's even older school than air popped, LOL)

Day 56 - Absolutely exhausted

It was my night to "cook", so here's a shot of me waiting way back in line to pick up Taco Bueno for dinner. No more creativity tonight, I'm beat. See y'all tomorrow!

Day56.jpg

5th in line to place my order, and 4 more cars wrapped around in front of us waiting to get to the pick-up window.
