Love that processing job!

Thanks!

I loved it too. I think my initial reaction to Perfect Effects 8 was due to the fact that it's not as polished/glamorous as the NIK collection comes across, so I dismissed it as something akin to Picasa. The more I dig, though, the more I see that it is actually a straightforward edit/tweak program with a library of presets built in as well. A lot of the things it does are things I was trying to learn in LR/PS, and it actually makes it a bit easier to do, although maybe not quite as in depth as what someone could achieve in PS. Still aiming to nab the NIK collection after I upgrade my camera body, but this is a nice gap filler until then!

Day 27 - *sigh*

Sooooo stinkin' cold out there today, work goin' crazy, stressed bald guy = vegetation mode. This is how I spent my evening, but I did get a pic of it. ;) Wasn't even all that relaxing, as my team was behind for most of the game, and just couldn't dial it up at the end. :( :( :(

Day27.jpg

Technology amazes me though. I remember, back in the old days, when you couldn't snap a photo of a computer screen or television screen without a huge band of off color yug in the middle of it from the slow refresh rates, etc. Now, with today's TV's and today's digital sensors, it's clear as it can be. I'm wondering what the tech will be like in another 30 years...

Day 26 - Twilight Tree

Full day of BACA today, but got home around sunset and the tree just up the street caught my eye because the light was hitting it just right. Wanted to mess with the OnOne Perfect Effects 8 a bit, thought I saw some things I could play with to make the tree look like it was a pic ripped out of an old book, perhaps forgotten in a basement for a few generations... (yeah, I think like that sometimes)

Anyway, here's the before pic (just some basic LR tweaks, vignette gave it a near halo effect), followed by the "after I played with it". Nothing fancy, one of the presets with a bit of contrast and clarity tweaking.

Day 28 - Daydreams of Summer

It's freezing. No doubt about it. 14 degrees this morning with a wind chill of 1. Maybe nothing compared to some of you Northern folks, but I'll say it again: I was NOT built for winter. I need to move south... WAY south... anyway, thinking back to warmer days, I shot a photo of one of my favorite shells we've brought home from the beaches of Florida.

Day28-1.jpg

It kinda reminds me of the big lion fish I used to feed in one of my summer jobs down there when I used to spend the summers with Dad.

I thought it looked like a lion fish also.

Cold? You can say that again! It's a good thing drive by shootings aren't illegal with a camera. Any outdoor picture I've taken was from the car.

Day 29 - "Somewhere over the rainbow...", or "Something fishy is going on."

What would Pretzel's Snack-A-Day thread be without a true snack thrown in every once in a while? Well, here ya go! LUNCH today, in the form of a rainbow roll! One of Tulsa's best kept secrets is a Bill and Ruth's sub shop that serves... Fresh, made to order, amazingly tasty sushi. A Korean couple owns the shop, and they, along with their son, are all classically trained in the art of preparing sushi. Every single time, with the formal way of old tradition, they present it to you with a bow and a smile.

Day29.jpg

It tastes even better than it looks, although it's plated with careful attention to detail. Any time I mention the "best sushi in town", though, people always look at me funny, and ask... "Bill and Ruths!?" before they shake their heads and dismiss me as crazy. Oh well! That just means I don't have to wait in line to enjoy this treat!

It looks wonderful and the photography is great but I don't eat raw fish.

There are quite a few cooked sushi options as well, but this one does involve a bit of the "raw". ;)

I never liked white rice till we started going to a Japanese Steak house here. It is one where they cook at the table and put on quite the show. They start with the rice and give you a plate full of it. I started eating it and loved it. Watched how they prepared it and now have a rice cooker and can match how good their rice is. Stir fried shrimp, steak or chicken. It is in our list of meals we do. I guess I need to try some of the raw options. Maybe start with smoked salmon and work my way back from there.

Day 30 - Personal Request

After posting the previous test pics w/ wedding rings to my facebook page, a friend asked me to try a different shot. It's also a more traditional type of shot, so I tried to give it my own twist in the edit...

Day30.jpg

I think it came out quite nicely.

Nice great idea, think i would like to see it in color or selective color highlighting the gold rings just to see the difference

Here's backing out a bit and getting the gold back. Much rougher edit, but gives ya the feel.

Day30-2.jpg

With a little layer masking, I could combine the two I'd bet.
