...and Day 163 - nothing huge, picture wise, but it was a huge win for me! To fill in (briefly) a bit of back story, "The Hobbit" was the first book that ever grabbed me. COMPLETELY. and even after near 1,000 more reads, it's always had a special place in my heart and memories. I've searched long and hard for that "collector's" edition that would hold the special spot in my meager library, and I finally found one! It's a small, leather bound edition with pages much like a small leather Bible, and... well, it just feels right in my hands. Here's a pic that doesn't do it justice, because it's late, and I'm tired... :)

Ah yes. I once had this and also the Lord of the Rings which is all 3 books in the same sized leather volume. VERY thin paper!! Sadly, my ex ended up with that and most of my books :(.

Liked for finding out there's a same sized leather volume of the following trilogy, but NOT for the fact the ex ended up with it. :(

Day 164 - Another long day, just finished planting part of my father's day present - a red cone flower! (have only seen the pink and yellow ones before, so it was a special treat!) It was full dark when we finished planting them, as well as re-potting a few other things, so this was with the nifty fifty and a flash. :)

Found a copy on eBay of the 1979 version I had....only $330 :( But from memory it was about $75 new back in 1979, so they haven't appreciated much. Don't think I'll buy it

Day 165 - What a hard day.

That's all I'll say, but now, just before 11 p.m., I finally slowed down and got off a shot for the day. This is it, and it's all you get. Good night.

Day 167 - Heartache

It was my last evening with a very dear companion, as today she made her final visit to the vet. Not a great pic, as I was finding it a bit hard to focus, but this was her last night, curled up in her dog bed right next to my feet, like she always was, with a few edits to cover the spots where hair was missing.

Piglet, my gal... I miss ya more than you know.

Here's a pic from before, doing one of her favorite things... terrorizing the local stick population.

Day 168 - Not much better, as I just couldn't find much motivation today. Snapped this, though, and let it stand... can you tell what it is, where it was?

Day168.jpg

Then, trying to focus again, tried to snap a pic of some smiles. A little more dust in the eye, and a rambunctious jack lass made for an in focus boy with an out of focus pooch. A clear mind probably would have stopped down to f8... *shrug*

Sorry to hear about your dog. It's always hard to say goodbye to pets :('
She looked like she had a long and good life, and that it was time for her to say goodbye :)

Thanks to all for the kind words. Thought I was ready for it, turns out I wasn't. Ever seen a 6'4" biker blubber like a baby? LOL

Life moves on, though... as always.

Hate to hear of your loss. Definitely just like losing a family member when you lose a good pet. Hang tough and keep those great photos coming. Always enjoy your 365.
