Day 156 - Forkin' around with a little eggsperiment...

*rimshot and cymbal crash go here*

<track laugh>

Started out with the fork idea from a pic I'd run across on the internet, but wanted a different composition.

First, this is original uncropped composition, with OOC coloring, composition, etc. I'm a little proud of myself for knowing the composition I wanted and getting it right in the viewfinder/shot.

I liked the B&W of it though.

Then, had an odd idea. I started out by creating my own 8 1/2 x 11 pieced together infinity wall, then had my boy help me set up the egg. I had to have him do it, as I couldn't get my ham hand down in there while holding an egg, LOL.

This was with me holding the camera with one hand and my off-cam speedlight stretched WAY OUT in the other.

Then this is with my boy serving as flash stand and holding the light a bit farther back. I kind of like the shadows it cast forward this way.

Ok, I'm done for the night!

Day 157 - Downstairs, QUICK!

Very little time to do much of anything because of the day's events, but at one point, my boss (knowing my love for photography) came running in to tell me about the colorful bug I needed to run down and get a snap of... of course, I obliged. Not fancy, just quick.

Day 160 - ZOO day! (Just LOVE my zoo days!)
(EDITED TO DAY 160, posted thinking I had posted the previous day's pic already, which I hadn't, so Day 159 will follow, LOL. JUST BEAR WITH ME, ok???)

My stripes give me a natural camouflage, you can't see me!!

Day159-2.jpg

Crap... he sees me. Maybe if I just stay really still...

Day159-3.jpg

Look, bub. You gonna keep pointing that thing at me or what?

Day159-5.jpg

Just in case you were thinking about comin' over here, let me show you why you WON'T, ok?

Day159-4.jpg

Fine, guess I'll just have to find someplace else to hide. Excuse me while I dry off a bit.

Day159-1.jpg

Here's the obligatory facial everyone seems to want. Now, how about you leave?

The REAL Day 159 - (Previous Day 159 - tiger series - was edited to be day 160, which it really is. This SHOULD have been posted before, but I got distracted, so... Live with it! Thanks!)

Busy day, dropping the boy off at camp, not a lot of time to shoot, but saw this driving by, so stopped for a quick shot or two out the window, as the old building had character!

Will the REAL Day 159 photos please step forward?

Ok, we're back in order now. Had a BLAST at Bricktown in OKC Tuesday night, and got a chance to do one of my favorite things. Long exposure night photos!

Here's quite a bit of me dabbling - first, some candid shots as we wandered. We were on our way to the Coco Flow Chocolate Cafe (the wife's eyes lit up when I read this off as a nearby attraction), and the first few shots were captured on the way...

Fuzziy's is famous for it's 1 Gallon fish bowl margaritas! Maybe that's what led to the name?? Don't worry, you're not allowed to order one by yourself... you have to have 4 adults with ID's to get one. ;)

This was just an interesting neon sign along the way...

Day161-7.jpg

We had to walk down Flaming Lips Alley to get to our destination. This was one of the interesting club entrances along the way, complete with "cool address". :)

Day161-8.jpg

Then we arrived at our 1st destination...

Day161-10.jpg

The wife had a wee fresh espresso.

...and we shared a sampling of amazing custom chocolate truffles.

Day 161 Part 2 - ...and THEN it was MY turn!

Who needs a ND filter? Just get your running water shots at night! ;)

Day161-1.jpg

Got a clear shot to shoot this fountain with the glow of the downtown OKC nightlife in the background. The advantage of visiting on a Tuesday night is the fact that there are less people to get in your way. ;)

Day161-2.jpg

One of the shots of the canal that runs in the middle of Bricktown. It's small, to be sure, but quite picturesque... fun in color AND B&W, yeah?

Day161-3.jpg

Day161-4.jpg

Then, there's this shot. I think it was my fave of the night!

Day 162 - Camp Life?

So my son is at camp this week, and today they spent the day learning about Native American life, games, etc. Then tonight, they had a social dance. Not a Pow Wow (or Longhouse meeting, as these tribes celebrate it), but rather an informal social gathering where the night is spent as much in teaching as it is in dancing and enjoying each other's company. It wasn't well it, and they discouraged flashes, but here's a shot of one of the dances.

Not sure who had more fun, the teachers or the students! :)

...and Day 163 - nothing huge, picture wise, but it was a huge win for me! To fill in (briefly) a bit of back story, "The Hobbit" was the first book that ever grabbed me. COMPLETELY. and even after near 1,000 more reads, it's always had a special place in my heart and memories. I've searched long and hard for that "collector's" edition that would hold the special spot in my meager library, and I finally found one! It's a small, leather bound edition with pages much like a small leather Bible, and... well, it just feels right in my hands. Here's a pic that doesn't do it justice, because it's late, and I'm tired... :)
