Day 94 - Sing it with me... "Here comes the sun..." doo-doo-doo-dooooo!
Just a common sign of spring, the dreaded dandelion, hopefully viewed in a not so common way. They're quite amazing when viewed in the right light (which means, look at it as a flower, not an annoying ugly weed that will take over every square inch of your yard in a few weeks). I used a couple of different lenses too, the nifty fifty and the kit lens, just to see what each one is capable of. The nifty fifty shots were cropped rather heavily, the kit 18-55 not so much, as I was able to get about 6" closer and still get a good focus. The kit, in fact, could
almost be a macro lens...
almost. I need to put one of those raynox things on it.

(slaps self, "D7100 first, stupid! STAY FOCUSED!)
This 1st one, I wanted to mess with one of the "slightly over-exposed" ideas that I had. Catch a dandelion in the sunlight, and allow it to
glow like the sun since it is a sign of Spring, after all.
Then, just testing the close-up detail of the nifty fifty. Got as close as I could and still get a focus, then cropped heavily. This shot, and the shot before, helped me notice details on a dandelion that I've never noticed before, and that's what made me want to get CLOSER with the kit lens, so out I ran again!!
EXTREME crop for a VERY close look! I still get amazed by the tiny details and the ability to capture it with technology these days.
Ok, so I pulled the bloom off of the main plant and moved it around the yard a bit. Didn't really get the perfect spot like I hoped, but still got a couple of different looks.

(barely cropped, just from the in-cam 4x6 to a 4x5(8x10) as that's how close the 18-55 can focus!)
There are even beautiful details on the underside! Such detail, and never noticed 99.9% of the time. Of course, it's hard to see normally... (uncropped image to show how close the 18-55 can get)
A little grunge with a double sign of spring... a dandelion bloom and clover.
And then, just for fun, I did a bit of a darker edit to draw out quite a bit more of the detail. (BARELY cropped as well)
All in all, common photographs of a common yard nuisance, but quite a bit of fun for me.

Thanks for putting up with me! LOL
