Seems like most are going with a couple up front and a link back. I've never linked back but I think I can. All of them are not in one album. I'll do that first on flickr, then put up a couple here and try to link back to one album for those interested in viewing the rest.

Thanks everyone for the response and suggestions.

Oh, and the series is in two parts. The second part is from a remote location across a river from the derailment. That group is shot with my Panasonic Lumix FZ80. I needed the reach (1200mm). I won't post the Lumix shots if that isn't proper.

Thanks for your response Sandpatch. The clean up took some heavy equipment that all went right by my house. The area is remote, the only access is the railroad itself. Lots of work to clear and rebuild that section of track. And, as you said, the best part was no serious injuries.

You live in a beautiful area. It's been many years since I visited there. Caught this 04/10/1988 at CW Cabin just west of Hinton. [Kodachrome, Nikon N2020, Nikkor 43-86mm]

Great picture Sandpatch! I bet CW cabin is long gone along with that signal bridge. Bet that U boat is gone too.

Thank you. I seem to recall that CW did indeed meet its fate, sometime recently. I'll bet you're right on the other two things as well. :( I took this slide the same day as the other.

Thanks for the great memories of the old CW cabin. Yes it's been gone for some time now. About 3 miles from me. All those redbud bushes still decorate our highways each year.

As the years passed, Amtrak did improve its image. Here's a snazzy-looking Metroliner train in January 1981 at Princeton Jct. I think I was shooting with my Dad's Nikon EL-2 here. This scene is very much changed today, with a new station, high level platforms, new signals and new trains. Those signals are classic Pennsylvania Railroad "Position Light Signals", hard to find in service today.
