Well one of my friends once spoke of monopod as a good piece of kit to get, and I never forgot that bit of advice. I only wish I could remember which buddy it was that recommended it! Lol :D

Anyway I just won an auction of a Gitzo GM5540 monopod! Woohoo! It's used, but I'm thrilled to have managed to win it, and I hope it will work well for me. :)

Here is a photo from the listing.

Needed to get a portrait lens with more bokeh. I really wanted the 85mm 1.4G. It was more than a want - a must have and cost wasn't in the equation. What it eventually came down to were two points. First, the chromatic aberrations with the 1.4G. I just didn't want to have to deal with it and after having tested both lenses I could verify that yup it was there. Second, one review that I read pointed out that your customer is really not going to notice/know the difference between the 1.4 vs the 1.8. In the end, in spite of WANTING the 1.4 I purchased the 1.8. It truly is a great lens and very sharp. The cost savings was an unintended bonus.

My other latest purchase. Tamron 70-300. After winning the northern Utah Kelby photo walk last year I got a years worth of free lens rentals. Man has that "free" lens rental deal paid off for the store that donated that prize as I have bought way too many lenses after having rented them.

I'm surprised you didn't already have one. They can be pretty handy at times.

I had a scheduled search in eBay for a 1 Nikkor 32mm f/1.2. Last week I discovered a short auction on one out of Quebec. Thanks to Gixen I sniped the auction with a single bid with only .04 seconds remaining. The best part is that I was able to acquire my copy for a bit over half of US list price. I posted a couple sample images in the Mirrorless Forum here. Very, very happy - and lucky.

Well I hit another milestone in my photography! Lol I got a 20"×30" print made up and I'm loving it! Looks like I was worried for nothing about getting large prints out of D300 files! Lol:D
I regret using a lot of cropping on some of my earlier work, but I'm sure going to try to do much less cropping when I can can and still keep my vision! :D

I'm finding getting your work in prints adds a whole new feel to seeing your photos, that make me feel a bit proud of them! :)

Oh here is the photo I decided to get a large print of! :)

Your right buddy! Maybe I should have bought a monopod sooner! Lol I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I'm very impressed with the quality and I can see how it might turn out to be very handy! Much easier to pack around than a tripod when I know I'll be doing some walking just to catch shots of what I might find. But I'll take my tripod and gimbal head when I have a known critter area to shoot in! Lol :)

My newest tripod will be used to help me get some of my macro shots! My gitzo G2220 just arrived today, and it looks brand new except for one small scratch and the scuff marks on the rubber feet! Lol :D

I'm surprised you didn't already have one. They can be pretty handy at times.

You can check out my other post in the D7100 forum but I picked this up from Best Buy for $27. I know it's not as nice at a 70-200 2.8 but it does help performance.
