Why haven't you used your gitzo macro rail buddy? I had some cheap rails that I hated, since the nob you turn to move the the rail was too loose, too hard to turn when moving the camera up a grade, and it never was rock steady even when locked down.

This rail seems better in several respects. It has a large nob to adjust position of the rail, two round rails to keep it stable and hopefully to keep it smooth but still tight without binding up. A good size lock lever so adjustments can be made and the quickly locked down.
I am worried that the rail length might be a bit short, but better short than unsteady and a pain to use! Lol :)

I'm hoping to get an off center column tripod for my macro to use this with, capitalizing on the versatility of the tripod and the fine tuning of the rail. :)

Let us know how it works Bill. I have one that I have never used.

The credit card balance was zero, and I said, WHOA! I'm not doing my part to help the economy. I'm really impressed with Tokina products and this lens has received exceptional reviews.

I too have considered this lens as I have had good results from my Tokina lenses but have come to the conclusion that I need vr now on almost all of my lenses.

Not my favorite part of the kit but light is going down rapidly this time a year and I ran out of options to compensate. I also kinda demolished my previous one.

Hey all! I finally was able to get a Gitzo tripod for my macro shots! Thanks Glenn for the great advice buddy!

Anyway I borrowed the $265.00 and bought a Gitzo G2220 that has the ability for the center post to go horizontal too without removing the post! Woohoo! :D
I will be changing the head to a ARCA swiss z1 ball head when the tripod is delivered! :D

Here is a photo of it posted in the listing.

Awesome my friend! I think I looked at this model, but I can remember since it was likely more than I could afford. I hope you'll love it! :D

I first need to do some sessions in the gym before I can lift it without collapsing. ;) 3.5kg (close to 8 lbs I think) ain't nothing. But at least it has a decent height. I need to stand on a box if I fully extend everything.

No I just bought it and will have to wait on it getting shipped. I haven't tried this type of stool yet, but this one seemed pretty well made and will handle 250lbs, so I have high hopes that it will work out good.
I was tempted by one with a back rest and would handle 300lbs, but this stool was $37.00 and the better one was around $63.00 and 3lbs difference in carry weight. 2lbs vs 5lbs.

Sorry I don't have much info for ya yet my friend.
