That's because they think you are ignoring them. Cats can be even worse. I had a cat that would deliberately hit the escape key. She knew she would get a reaction out of me. That cat's name was Grendel. That explains it all.

A real "Monster" then. :mad-new: Reminds me of when I was dating my wife. She was in grad school and she wrote a 75 page paper on the significance of the Dragon in Beowulf. I heard a lot about Grendel during that time. The first dog we got together we named Grendel.
I've enjoyed looking thru your shots Barbara & they are showing me about life on the other side of the globe

Thank you. Sometimes it does get a little tedious, and yes, there are times cabin fever sets in. But I like snow, cold weather (but not nose hair freezing temperatures), so I don't mind that much. Spring and fall are the best seasons around here.

Did your wife ever read, Grendel, by John Gardener? It's a great spin on the story. A great book. None of it was Grendel's fault. It was all due to his mother. Gardener was an English Lit Professor at SUNY Binghamton (Oops, excuse me, they now call it Binghamton University
) whose expertise was the English bawdy tales, such as the Canterbury Tales. I think it is still in print.3-7-14:
WooHoo! Heat wave! Spring must be getting closer. Temperatures were in the 40s F, and the sun was out this afternoon. I stopped to check the creek on the way home to see how the ice floes were doing. The ice has not started to break up, but if the temperatures continue for another few days, there will be some great ice floe photos.
These two boys were having a field day on the ice. Fortunately, the creek is very shallow where they were, but still....
I turned around, crossed the road on the bridge and got this one. Looking at the bank on the left side of the photo, you can see how much the creek has dropped lately due to the very frigid temperatures we have been having. Give it a couple of days, and the creek will be close to overflowing its banks due to the snow melt.

Like most people around here, I am so tired of sub-zero F temps and the Polar vortex. I am trying to think of more warm weather things, so here is a photo of some strawberries I ate after I took their photo.

I got so involved in early spring cleaning (that's what temps in the 40s do ) that I almost forgot to get my photo for the day. Sorry, it's the opportunistic feline photo of my longhaired snotty cat. Yes, she does have some scratches on her nose because one of the other cats has gotten tired of her cattitude.

I did my post processing using Pro running under Ubuntu Linux because I was using my Mac to suck some science documentaries off my DVR to use in school. No lectures, please, from the copyright police. It's called fair use for educational purposes, seriously. It used to be so much easier and quicker to copy a TV show with VHS, even my parents could do it. The digital version, not as simple.

It was a beautiful, sunny day, and even the birds thought so.
This crow was just hanging around on a melting snow bank. Amazingly, I was able to get more detail than usual of this crow's feathers. Usually, all I get is a very black bird with no feather definition. This time I got feather definition!!
This little guy did not look as cold has he/she usually does.

After wandering around outside with the photography class, it was this photo, that I took, inside, of one of my co-workers. This photo was taken through the door window (you know, the type with the wire safety glass where the wire is sandwiched between and fused between two panes of glass). I took this handheld, with my D7000, AF 55-200 non-VR lens, ISO 800, f/5, 1/30 sec, and focal length of 135mm. For obvious reasons, I did not use flash.

I like this shot. Looks like a hospital (are all govt buildings painted the same colours world wide?) and that pose could mean one of many things.............

Actually, it is part of the elementary school wing in the school that I work. I read once, where the colors of walls in schools, offices, and hospitals is very important. Green and blue are very relaxing, calming colors. That is why you often see pastel green or blue walls in such places. Bright, vibrant colors can cause some people to become anxious or agitatited. It actually does make sense.
