Piperbarb's 2014 Project 365

There has to be a place in your classroom for a 24 x36 enlargement of that shot!!! Just to show them who's boss!

I use a lot of my photos, including those of Creature, AKA, longhaired snotty cat, as the wallpaper on my work laptop. That way, when I connect the Smartboard to my laptop, the kids see 4' x 6' images of Creature, weird insects, fultures, and the like. They never know what to expect. They really enjoy it. The funniest is when I have a flower photo and bugs on it. Never fails that it's actually two bugs. My students call it bug porn. :) It helps that I am a high school science teacher and work with at risk kids in a residential treatment center. It keeps things lively, that's for sure.

My wife likes to put her shots on her computers at school. The kids are amazed when they see them on her smart board. They ask her who shot them. She is always proud when she said that she did.

My students are the same way. They love some of the series of photos I take, like the vulture photos last year. Macro shots of spiders eating bugs is also a big hit.

Saw these dried out seed pods on a tree branch. I just thought they looked interesting and almost like alien seed pod beings. HaHa! I guess I have watched too much really bad, campy SciFi over the years.

I saw this flock of birds fly from one tree to another. I was not sure what they were until I checked later. They are cedar waxwings. I counted 14 of them (plus part of one at the bottom). You have to look closely to see a few of them. When you enlarge the photo, you see the distinctive yellow tips on their tails.

I guess we really do have 10 more days of winter. Below is what was happening this afternoon as the temperature decided to drop more than 12 degress F in an hour.

YUCK!!

To make myself feel better, I checked out my hyacinth bulb. It looks like this year it is going to have twin flowers!!! WooHoo!

It was only 12F today with wind gusts of 30+ mph. It did not matter that it was sunny. I went back to my winter photo mode. Don't worry, no opportunistic feline photos or canine candids. I have a a lot of glass paperweights and thought it would be interesting to photograph one. I really wanted to get the center pattern in focus. I think I succeeded. :)

What a gorgeous paperweight. It's such a lovely colour. BUT...the big question...can you get any sort of refractory image thru it? It could make a really cool shot if you can. ;)

I plan on taking one of the spherical ones and photographing that because it turns whatever is in the background, or distance, upside down. It's really interesting.

The fun part of grocery shopping occurs at home. After putting the groceries away, a single paper grocery bag can be very entertaining.

While Spooky and Buster were in a feline discussion over who would get in the bag, Alex came along, crawled in the bag, and settled down.

I had to really study the first photo to try and figure out what I was looking at. Yes, I know it was two cats BUT...

and on a side note I am still waiting on that video of you playing the bagpipe.

Today was one of those days where the weather changed about every 30 seconds: sunny, then sleeting, then windy. Generally, BLECH! weather. With that in mind, I still found something "spring-like" but it wasn't outdoors.
